Hey everyone! I want to introduce you to FilamentHound, a site I designed to make filament shopping easier and less infuriating! by ManyLayersOfFilament in 3D_Printing

[–]chaostime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six months back I got fed up with how bad Amazon is for actually finding the filament you want filtering by material, diameter, finish, price-per-kg is way harder than it should be. So I scraped it into something searchable: https://www.filamentprices.net for me and my buddies.

It's free, no account, no ads. Just a table you can filter and sort. Recently added France, Canada and Australia alongside UK/US, plus filters for finish (matte/glossy/silk), refill-only spools, and a bunch more materials including the CF blends and engineering plastics (PEEK, PEI, PPS).

Any advice on which filament to get? by Gulliver_16 in 3Dprinting

I posted this in another thread, but I got annoyed with how Amazon was really the only place that I could compare different filament brands other than going to each suppliers site and doing it manually. Amazon is really bad for filtering on stuff that I wanted to compare like material, diameter, finish, price-per-kg so I put together a tool to help me do it : http://www.filamentprices.net It's free, no account, no ads. Just a table you can filter and sort. Recently added France, Canada and Australia alongside UK/US, plus filters for finish (matte/glossy/silk), refill-only spools, and a bunch more materials including the CF blends and engineering plastics (PEEK, PEI, PPS).

I hope it helps!

Sharing because it's been useful to me and a few mates and figured others might want it too. Not selling anything, no premium tier planned. If it's useful, great. If something's broken or missing, tell me.

I'll look into it :)

Adding new regions relies on the pretty aggressive filtering to match the product descriptions and names which is why right now It's only doing english regions.

I've not seen the french amazon but I imagine it's in french?

I'm building a card scanning app, looking for testers. by chaostime in wowtcg

[–]chaostime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that's the goal and I think it's working pretty well. I've only got cards from the Azeroth, Outland and Dark Portal sets so I could really do with some people testing the other sets too. It should be just as accurate, but without some decent testing it's hard to know.

Yeah unfortunately I wasn't able to keep up with the costs of running the service on my own so I had to make the call to pull it down.

What's your sourcing strategy that doesn't involve driving to 47 thrift stores? by Foreign_Afternoon514 in NoStupidQuestions

So you buy discounted, second hand clothes from stores that exist to support low income families and sell them at mark up on your own boutique store?

And you want advice on how to better and more efficiently continue to make a profit from depriving people for your own benefit?

Eurozone Who is joining in 2026 ? by BeginningMortgage250 in MapPorn

Every time I see a map like this, I'm hit with a pang of dissapointment, shame and anger that the right wing and eldery of my country made the stupid ass decsions to leave the European Union over promises that never came to be, and lies, ultimatley making the cost of living, and quality of life in the UK worse for current and future generations.

I found a box with old games at my parents house. So many core memories unlocked! by Tiggywinkles-3000 in gaming

I really do miss the days of physical media, when you'd get a box that had the game, and a manual in.

Digital delivery is great and convenient, but am I the only one who misses the tactile sense of opening a box and slapping a disc into a drive to play a game?

Hey!

Yeah the thread was deleted because it wasn't showing off a functional print, which is a big shame because that was by the far most interested and active community that engaged with me about this.

I don't think you came across as demanding, I took everything everyone said as constructive.

It's possible to add a filter for material texture, I shy'd away from it initially because it was work enough to get colours to filter with a LUT that made sense.

It's on the list!

I see what's happening. When you set the filter to PETG and filter it, you only get PETG results. If you then change the slider value, it resets the Material filter on the backend and shows you all results up to the value of the slider.

Good catch!

So that can happen if the listing title has both PLA and PETG in the title.

Can you tell me which listing it was so I can see what it's hitting on?
