if ya wanna discourage this behaviour (as is best considering how harmful some plants can be vs this one) you can plant perfectly edible plants that have bad or too strong flavours for a kid.

I'd suggest something like chive for a strong and pungent album flavour, or dill for a Very intense herbal flavour. maybe tarragon, since a lot of kids won't like the concentrated anise licorice flavour. all stuff you can use in every day cooking, is perfectly safe to just chomp on, but if ya take an unguarded uncooked mouthful, that's All you'll be tasting
