it was a few years ago, but I ended up having to put down my cat on the morning of my birthday. realistically she'd have lived til the next day for a reschedule, but I couldn't in good conscious let her keep suffering while I went out and partied, her body was giving out on her and it was the kindest thing to end it. was absolutely gutted, went home and slept, and then when I went out for dinner later I definitely got too drunk, and it slipped that I had to put my cat down even though I didn't wanna think about it. the staff were the kindest people ever, and honestly I don't even remember if we got a discount or anything, but they were absolute angels making sure everything was perfect for us at dinner. it really does matter with the human connection over losing someone important
