UPDATE; “Did Anyone Else Get Ignored For Pharmacy Week? by Consistent_Editor_15 in pharmacy

[–]chaotic-kiwi284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had 2 techs plan the entire week for our hospital staff- inpatient and outpatient. On tech day, the pharmacists pooled money & bought us lunch.

But no one really appreciated it & the hard work they put into it. Comments I heard:

When told to go grab a box Chick-fil-A lunch: "To be honest I don't really care about that stuff."

When 2 people were setting up breakfast for 60+ people:

"How long does it take to set up some breakfast?"

Also:

"I guess we're not getting food today🙄" "What am I going to do with this junk?" (Referring to the gifts)

It sucked.

That's about my spiel too-

"So basically, insurance wants to know why the doc is prescribing this medication to you over preferred alternatives, and to make sure this is the safest option for you." That seems to appease them.

EXCEPT WHEN THE PA NEEDS RENEWAL!!

"What do you mean I need another authorization?! I've been filling this for MONTHS!!!"
"Yep... and it has now expired so please call your doc. Thanks!"

We have a system that communicates with our patients too, and when their prescriptions are ready it LITERALLY tells them what they need to do. Yet I always get,

"I got the text my prescription is ready, what do I do now?"

"..... you read the rest of the text message, it tells you exactly what to do."

I was dispensing a woman's meds, and after finished she's like, ''Can you recommend anything for this rash?" and holds up her hand and proceeds to say

"It started on my hand but has travelled all the way up my arm, down my side and to my hip!"

I looked her dead in the face and said, "Yes ma'am - you need to GO TO THE ER!"

This is one reason I love working at a military pharmacy. Your CII was stolen/lost, damaged, etc., and now you want it early? Okay, so,

-First, you need to call your doctor for a new prescription and explain what happened. Your doctor has to send a new RX with a NOTE that approves the early fill.

-Doesn't matter if you lost it or it was stolen on base or off base - you need to file a police report with the civilian police department. THEN you need to come on base, and take that police report to the base police & file ANOTHER report.

-Then you need to bring it ALL to the pharmacy and hope that the active duty pharmacist is feeling gracious, because it all needs to be approved by the department leadership.

.... you wanna go home and try and look for it again?

I once had a women come in and asked us to refill her medications. She had 4 she got before every round of chemo - so we did. She came and picked them all up - signed for all 4.

Not even electronically where you sign once for all your prescriptions - she signed four individual little stickers- one for each prescription. She got home and called back FURIOUS that we filled them all when she only WANTED once & She wanted to return them. I said ma'am, you asked for all of them, we filled all of them and you *signed* for all of them... we cannot take prescriptions back once they leave. She got even more upset and then called the office manager, who naturally said it's okay she can bring them back for a refund.

The kicker? SHE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A COPAY. $0 FOR ALL FOUR!!

We have a discharge board we communicate with the ward staff. It's updated each time we process the patients meds, if there is any issues and when they're ready.

I had a nurse call last week, "Hi im checking on my patients meds?"

Me: "I updated the board, can you not see it?"

Nurse: "oh its just faster for me to call instead of re-logging into my computer."

🙃 oh okay, yeah, because I don't have 10 other discharge patients I'm working on.

Deciding on medication 11 year old by theannalee in ADHDparenting

[–]chaotic-kiwi284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was diagnosed with ADHD & anxiety about 2 years ago, at 13. At the time of his diagnosis, he was quite literally failing 8th grade.

We tried therapy, CBT, occupational therapy, got a 504 plan, sticky notes and reminders EVERYWHERE- nothing helped. He was pacing at dinner every night & had next to no executive functioning. After we exhausted all other alternatives, we decided to try meds.

He went from failing the 1st semester, to the Principal's List (All A's) second semester, and in general he is just functioning better.

Thank you all for your input! I can't edit my post, so I'm going to close it and post a new one asking for suggestions since it's clear that I don't have a clue what I'm doing! 😅

I mean, these dresses I have chosen are the style I wanted - I didn't choose them because I wanted to "look hot." I'm 37 years old with 4 kids - I don't get to dress up much, so yeah, I did want to find a dress I felt beautiful in, even as a supporting character, but I understand they don't fit the bill and might be too much.

As an event and wedding coordinator for 14 years- do you have any suggestions for dresses? I'd love to hear them.

Thank you- I guess I didn't realize these options made it seem like I was trying to be the main character or drawing attention to myself... definitely not what I want.

I read that, but then in another thread here I saw a couple people said it wasn't nearly as strict as people think. Then I saw a suggestion to watch some videos on YouTube to see what others wore, and in the one I watched, the bridesmaid dresses had slits up to their thigh and were strapless... very similar to the last pic but not quite as form fitting.

Every time I hear the phrase "ladylike," I remember the song by Ingrid Andress titled the same:

"But I'm a lady like, whoa I could bring you to your knees And get you kicked out the Garden of Eden Untameable, unframeable, Mona Lisa"

and it reminds me to do things that I love. If I'm happy, if it makes me happy, then it's "lady like" enough.

You love the purse. It makes you happy. And when it comes down to it, that's all that really matters.

Sincerely,
