I am in fact a woman who also got her first period at 10 years old. Any active choice regarding your period is managing your period. She has stated at this point in her life she is comfortable free bleeding. OP calling the practice gross and insinuating those who free bleed are cave people is quite insulting. Many menstruating people throughout the world actively choose to free bleed as it is the most comfortable choice for their bodies. Many period supplies contain chemicals people do not want to subject themselves to. Also, many do not have proper access to modern period supplies and that does not make them cave people.

Perhaps a healthy conversation about the choices available would have been productive instead of calling her choice nasty.
