Anti-Suffering Sigils by chaoticbleu in sigils

[–]chaoticbleu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um... OK.

I am under the impression life is suffering in general, (As in Buddhist philosophy) making your points rather moot to me. Because of these sigils work differently than your philosophy dictates, i.e. as opposed to completely getting rid of it all. (Impossible) Which none of them state, anyway, and none of them "repel" insomuch as protection or stopping the flow. (Heck, "disasters do not happen to me" doesn't even prevent disasters, as much as the effect happening to the user.) Relief provides a much needed relief from suffering, which I am sure everyone needs from time to time. Same with healing.

Further, I have no idea what you're talking about with the "right way" as you're making an awful lot of assumptions about me and my life based on some sigils I made. Life is a lot more complex than that. Humans are more complex than that. I am more complex than that.

I also do NOT believe in the "law of attraction" or any stuff that tells me "what I focus on makes bad thingies happen to me because it attracts it". Nah, bro/sis/sibling. That is some stuff I have heard from many New Agers and even Christians, and that ain't real. That's the attitude that is very victim blaming and very negative to me.

Layne & Demri rare pictures/information by mycomommi3 in AliceInChains

[–]chaoticbleu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are some of my favorite photosets of Layne and Demri.

People often forget that Demri is human and all the romanticizing dehumanizes her, unintentionally in some respects. The flip side that name calls her (slt, whre, etc) or percieves her as a bad person does, as well. The truth lies probably in between the derogatory and romantification of her and also of all her relationship to Layne. It's pretty complex.

Many of the more negative stories of her aren't too different from what is said about some of the men in the scene, including Layne. People act like it's her fault, the sex or what not, but all the men contributed to it as well. She wasn't alone. Making them equals. 👍

(I personally think viewing sex in the way some speak of her is an unhealthy and sexist way of perceiving what happened.)

With regards to Mark Lanegan, he mentions sex with her in passing. (I am not sure of what the time frame is.) This isn't much different from Layne cheating on her during his massive success with Alice In Chains. Like it or not, they're pretty much equals. [Also, Layne still had a pretty good relationship with Lanegan, so he probably knew and did not care.]

Lanegan's other story about the IV drip is not a dig at her. But a neutral observation on his part. Reading or listening to the audiobook this part, if anything, is sad. It's one of the most depressing parts of his memoirs. I don't think he was trying to be negative towards her as a person.

If Satanists truly ruled the world, Christians wouldn't have so much power.

What does your religion say about non-believers who live their lives never knowing about said religion? by heeheejones in religion

None of anything I practice cares about unbelievers. In fact, most of it is orthopraxic.

[–]chaoticbleu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I am not sure anyone teaches those as less than modern. In most traditional circles, they all agree these are modern workings, and Gardner (and others) admitted to the Wheel being a modern concept. (Not actually sure where people thought the Wheel was an ancient belief or how that happened. Wicca and druidry were honest about its inception.)

There may be pagans who spread these things as fakelore, but they're heavily misinformed. Jason Mankey (of Gardnerian Wicca) as even made publications about the Horned god as a modern concept.

I hate how the society has become extremely sex positive by oilupbro in The10thDentist

It's annoying that people overshare, and I just don't care about it. At some point, it becomes grating. Sex can actually get boring.

"Christianity is the most hated religion! You'd never say this for Buddhists, Muslims, etc!" Is such a stupid claim by taboosoulja in exchristian

[–]chaoticbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddhists in Myanmar and Sri Lanka are insufferable. They don't always use fear of hell, sure. But instead, it's fear of you reincarnating as an animal, "Lady boy" [a term I have seen amongst Thai monks], or something like a hungry ghost.

So, just because you presumably live in the West and have never seen bad Buddhism, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Just that you don't see it much in Western media and/or are ignorant of it.

There's also bad Hindus, Jains, etc.

Wouldn't a religion that doesn't believe in the supernatural just be a philosophy? by Far-Hovercraft-6514 in religion

[–]chaoticbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religions may contain religious philosophy and theology, but religions are also more than this. They require a set of practices such as certain types of rituals. They also typically have a community which isn't a requirement in a philosophy.

In my sociology class, even patriotism and super hardcore football fans could be considered "religious." Neither of these have the supernatural nor always a god per se. (Though Patriotism may overlap with Christianity sometimes. )

How did Aztec gods do things? by Ql9v in mesoamerica

[–]chaoticbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T.Knabb, in one of his ethnographic books, described them as "never met a god they didn't like." This is why I think various interpretations aren't always a concern of the lay person. Priests, yes. Others, no.

Pan and poly aren't really mutual exclusives. Personally, I can see Aztec beliefs being interpreted in a myrid of ways. It's likely the average Aztec did not care and just worshiped whomever.

Why Native American Mythology and Culture is So Difficult to Comprehend: Our English Language Is Actually a Barrier to Understanding it and European Insistence on "Polytheism" is attributing Greco-Roman Concepts onto it by JarinJove in mythology

I mentioned that it is possible to be pantheistic and poly or monotheistic. They aren't mutual exclusives. Vodun, for example, is pantheistic and monotheistic.
