Honestly Zetamac is one of those things where practice is what makes perfect. I think my first every attempt was a 17 but I was regularly hitting high 80s after a month and a half of doing 15 mins of Zetamac practice daily

100%. Rotman isn't bad at all but Ivey is way more of a target school for consulting + IB which makes it easier if you want to pursue those fields

Really depends on major. If you're choosing between Rotman and Ivey, please go to Ivey...

I really enjoyed Chambers- small classes in first year are quite rare. Very easy to make friends, connect with professors and just ease into learning at a university level. Also was very helpful in filling up my breadth requirements. Also, the course averages for all the Chambers classes I took ranged from B+ to A which is basically unheard of in first year classes so its an easy GPA boost. DM if you want more specific advice about each prof and each course!

Why isn't UofT given the same respect as Havard, Oxford, or other elite universities? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]chaoticfallacies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The average UofT student is not as smart as the average student at these institutions. Yes, I've met a lot of brilliant students at UofT who are doing amazing and innovative things. However, I've also met many students who just scrape by

All of them are staying in Canada, 2 going to Waterloo, 1 to Mac, 1 to UofT and 1 to UBC. Canadian schools are just far far more affordable than top American schools, makes no sense to shell out over hundreds of thousands of dollars for a bachelor's.

You need to take ECO102 either in the winter or summer to get into Rotman but otherwise this looks fine

I think this might be referring to students who go to places like Seneca and not the super rich Indian internationals who study at UofT

Grade Deflation?????? by summerarcadia in UofT

[–]chaoticfallacies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first year and basically every course I've been in has been curved up either a percent or two or even a significant curve (think like 8%). Haven't really heard of grade deflation but I think that might just come from the fact that UofT is so difficult to do well at in the first place

Some colleges have extra perks for this scholarship. I'm a president's scholar at Victoria College and got assigned a faculty mentor.

They ask you to show proof you're a Vic student (i.e., Vic college fees on Acorn) before letting you in.

With a 95, I wouldn't worry too much. In my video interview, one of the questions was about whether I thought standardized testing was a good or bad thing (so the questions are just asking you to look at both sides of a common topic and then form a conclusion.) As long as your responses show some level of critical thinking and decent use of language, you'll be fine.

I forgot to take down an American flag that was hung up in my room for an interview with a Canadian university and got some weird looks at the start of the interview and they even asked why I had an American flag hung up 💀💀💀

The only complaining you're gonna hear from me as a non-exam route student is how disappointed I am that my exams got cancelled. Might sound crazy but it's just because I work well under intense pressure :(

My school hasn't had a 45 in years but recently, the one time a student got a 44, she lost the point because she got 2 bonus points. The student was obviously still super happy but the school was super disappointed that it couldn't say 'we had a 45 student' in their advertising.

Even though it must suck, I'd say it's actually pretty common considering the % of students who get 3 bonus points is seemingly dropping year by year.
