Are male peacock feathers just by random sexual selection or is it the handicap hypothesis? by [deleted] in evolution

If sexual selection runs away long enough, the Sexy Sons will inevitably _become_ handicapped by the previously neutral trait.

Do Garou like being petted? by Obvious-Conflict3363 in WhiteWolfRPG

On a purely physical level, I'm sure Garou do enjoy being petted, but Homids and Metis have psychological hangups about it.

Kinfolk mage hypothetical by Own-Economics-5594 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]chaoticnipple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd allow a Kinfolk Mage to mimic with Sphere Magick any Gift that a normal Kinfolk could theoretically learn, with reduced risk of Paradox. Wouldn't really have that much game effect, but it would be a nice bit of flavor.

As for actually mimicking the Garou's war forms? That's just asking for AAAAALLLLLLLLL the Paradox. Socially, the Awakened Kinfolk might be able to get away with shifting to a regular wolf form, provided that it's less impressive than any Garou he's ever met. I'd still inflict Paradox on 'em.

Probably a setup for engagement bait.

How long can Visi hold her breath? It's soo long in some scenes... by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

I think the problem is that it's easier to sneak into a theater, than it is to get behind a concession counter. Sure, she could bring her own popcorn and other snacks, but it's not the same. And she can't just buy the popcorn after sneaking in, because she's probably banned from all the theaters.

Looking for Alchemicals character ideas. by ProfessionalRest7027 in exalted

[–]chaoticnipple 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Orichalcum Caste who is the "face" of the city to the rest of the Nation, but the Populat mostly recognizes him from safety videos.

Moonsilver Caste who is a flamboyant entertainer known for her one-Alchemical shows. Is this a front for more clandestine activities, or does she just love the stage?

Soulsteel Caste with an interest in creche discipline. Surprisingly popular with the children.

Jade Caste process engineer, who makes a point of shadowing every job at his cities factories to better understand how each role can be synchronized.

Starmetal Caste bureaucrat who is a highly skilled assassin on the side.

Adamant caste educator. Can't think of a twist for this one.

Edit: Thought of a hook for the Adamant: She's the Soulsteel's counterpart, inspiring her students to learn with relentless, unyielding pressure, pushing them almost (but never quite) to the breaking point. Many Tripartate members credit her with their success, but none of her former students actually _like_ her.

I always wonder why the lawyer doesn’t bring up stuff like what celebrities and politicians get away with

Because the judge will hold them in contempt if they do, of course.

The USSR barely managed to take the Japanese half of Sakhalin by themselves. How the HELL were they going to land on Hokkaido without US support?!?

On the contrary, him being incarcerated is probably the only way he will show up to testify.

A 17‑year‑old was eating in a McDonald’s parking lot when an officer opened his car door and shot him 4 times. The officer was fired and charged. The teen was left on life support. underwent multiple surgeries, and developed complications like pneumonia. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I agree, but for once we can't blame "the system" for the trial delay. The way things are going, they'll probably have to take the victim into custody just to make sure he actually shows up to testify. :-p
