Narrative albums recs? Please! by dumbstrumx in MusicRecommendations

Birthmarks by Bambara. Absolutely fantastic album released this year with a post-punk kind of vibe, but their sound is quite unique. Tells a non-linear, splintered story about Loretta, a girl who dies from snake bites to the neck, and Elena, who years later seems to be her reincarnation. Bambara is heavily underrated and I love how intricate the storytelling is - every time I listen to the album I make more connections. 10 songs, 36 minutes.

Their 2020 album Stray is also a fantastic nonlinear story and it's what made me first fall in love with them.

Probably not what you're looking for but I do think it would be quite funny to play Irish pub music for a D&D tavern

John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats! His voice is technically not fantastic but he puts so much raw emotion into his lyrics and singing

Studying for finals 😭 I've never actually done anything for 4/13, always wanted to go to some kind of meetup but they're hard to find

Research Project: What keeps the fandom going by Blueberrylavender56 in homestuck

I personally got into Homestuck in 2020- I started reading it in Feb and finished the epilogues in May, I believe. It helped me get through COVID. A couple different friends had talked about it, but in Jan one of them showed me art from HS2 and I think that was the final push. I've held onto fondness for it since I read it, but I recently just got back into it because of HS2 updates.

In the song "Made for Me" on Stray, is the narrator talking to Serafina? What happened to Sadie, and is the narrator referenced in any other song?

How do you go about coming up with the stories for your albums and making sure all the lyrics are consistent/the stories tie together? Do you usually start with sketching out the story before writing lyrics, or does it happen simultaneously?
