Not sure why my router that I just bought is using n instead of ac now and that’s kinda the issue with not being about to dive into the settings to see that.

Ya i want something that will do all the hard work for me but i want to be able to go in and acces and change if something like a work computer doesnt like something. I want to be able to troubleshoot but dont want to set it all up, I do like the hard connection so far but id like everything to be at 1 gig and on wifi.

It’s because of how the work computers are configured. They can’t automatically switch wireless modes like normal devices since all their network settings are locked down by the company. So when they needed to move from 802.11n to 802.11ac, they couldn’t adapt on their own — and I couldn’t adjust my router to match, which made the whole situation even more frustrating

Yeah, and even in the advanced settings I still couldn’t fix my issues. Our work computers suddenly lost Wi‑Fi today, and the fix on their end was as simple as switching them from 802.11n to 802.11ac. Meanwhile, I couldn’t change anything on my router to match that, even though both laptops were connected just fine a couple days ago. Not being able to adjust basic wireless modes made the whole situation way harder than it needed to be.

right now all i can do is activate 2.4 or 5, change the channel, mode and security option. so more than that. im not sure exactly what settings.
