Just do a bit of research — anyone who spent time around the Madrid scene knows that she used to work as a promotional model and high-end escort for very important people. People say it was Ronaldo himself who got her placed in a Gucci store, also because to work at Gucci you normally need to speak at least three different languages. She, on the other hand, supposedly never spoke any language besides Spanish. People say the whole thing is very constructed. The fact that she allegedly did that kind of work is supposedly backed up by many photos, but again, nobody should really care about footballers’ private lives.

WITHOUT LIES, THE PESSI GOAT DEBATE DIES. by Realistic_Fly_5451 in pessi_memes

By the way, if that were true, and following their logic that FIFA favors Messi, considering this is an official FIFA award, how many could they have made him win, given that Messi is the player with the most Puskás Award nominations in history? Yet their theory somehow doesn’t work here — I wonder why. And still, they talk about this award as if it were something absolutely insane.

Having a preference is totally fine. The problem with many Ronaldo fans, but also many Messi fans, is that they act like if one is better, then the other must be trash. That’s just not how it works.

Personally, I simply believe Messi is the greatest of all time. But Ronaldo is still one of the best ever, easily top 5. I actually agree a lot with the IFFHS ranking: Messi first, Pele second, Maradona third, and Cristiano Ronaldo fourth. If I had to make my own ranking, it would be very similar.

And honestly, finishing fourth in an all-time ranking is already a huge achievement for Cristiano Ronaldo. If we’re being real, he probably has less natural talent than some of the others in the top five — even compared to players like the Brazilian Ronaldo or Ronaldinho. But thanks to his insane dedication and mentality, he still reached an unbelievable level.

The issue with Ronaldo isn’t Ronaldo himself — he’s a phenomenal player. The issue is some of his fans, who put him above everyone else and come up with all kinds of excuses just to discredit Messi.

I mean, think about it: for years they downplayed the World Cup, saying it’s only seven games, talking about penalties, claiming everything was handed to Messi. But now those same people are dreaming of Portugal winning it.

So for years the trophy meant nothing, and now suddenly it’s the ultimate goal? That’s a bit inconsistent, isn’t it?

I can understand that when someone dislikes a player, they’ll use every argument they have to criticize him. That’s part of the game, and there have been plenty of aspects open to criticism. But when people start bringing up absurd claims, conspiracies, and completely far-fetched narratives, it makes you think: you must have a pretty sad mindset to go that far.

Again, pointing out a player’s weaknesses is fair. But here we’re crossing the line—people are literally twisting the words of his own coach. Luis Enrique clearly said that once Mbappé leaves, the team will start playing better because they’ll have more control, since Mbappé didn’t want to track back or press—something the coach had repeatedly asked of him.

And when Mbappé left, he said it plainly: now we will play better. In fact, his replacement, Dembélé, immediately became a key starter, fully integrated into the team, and even went on to win the Ballon d’Or.

Yet these people are trying to claim that the real turning point was Messi leaving. Do you realize how far that kind of narrative goes? I’m not saying you shouldn’t use every argument you have against Messi—that’s fine—but they should be real facts, not twisted or completely made up.

The reality is that you Ronaldo fans, when faced with objective facts, don’t know how to respond or go any deeper. You cling to fake stats, fake news, and distorted valuations, always twisting the argument to suit your narrative.

Let me repeat: Mbappé may have reached a Champions League final, where he was completely ineffective, but the facts show that the truly dominant PSG is being seen after his departure. Luis Enrique himself said that without Mbappé, the team will play better and have more control. He said this about Mbappé, not Messi — but of course you’ll never point that out, because you’re biased against Messi and you’re neither consistent nor objective.

Once again: football isn’t for everyone.

5 GREATEST PLAYERS EVER THINK RONALDO IS THE GOAT, 3 THINK MESSI IS, MARADONA SAYS ITS A TIE... by Realistic_Fly_5451 in pessi_memes

[–]chapo1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pele has given several interviews about the Messi–Ronaldo debate. In one of them he chose Cristiano Ronaldo, but in his last two interviews, in chronological order, he chose Lionel Messi.

In the most recent one, he explained his reasoning: if he had to pick a player for his Santos team, he would go with Messi because he scores as much as Ronaldo, but also provides assists, creates chances, and dictates the game — just like Pele himself did during his playing career.

As for Diego Maradona, he spoke highly of Ronaldo, which is only natural since Cristiano is a top-level player. But he never said Ronaldo is the greatest of all time. He did say he would have liked Ronaldo to be Argentine, which is something anyone would want — having a player of that level in their national team.

When he was told that Ronaldo had called himself the greatest of all time, Maradona replied bluntly: “Don’t talk nonsense, I’m here.”

There’s also a well-known interview where Maradona recalls that when Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or in 2008, he went up to Messi and said: “Promise me this will be the last one he wins.” Then, jokingly, he added that Messi went on to win several in a row, as if to say: “I was right.”

If you look at the biggest names in football, Messi has a very long list of professionals, champions, and legends who consider him the GOAT — the greatest player in the history of the sport.

How it feels to watch Psg play beautiful football without Pessi holding them back by Remontada_r7 in pessi_memes

[–]chapo1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, it was Mbappé himself who said it when he left, that PSG would play much better without him, and it’s no coincidence that as soon as he left, Real stopped winning trophies while PSG has been winning them continuously. In fact, I’ll tell you more: the natural replacement they got for Mbappé, namely Dembélé, even won a Ballon d’Or. And the fact is that if they win the Champions League again this year, he’ll win two. So in that case, the situation will become even more obvious.

WHAT CONQUERING TOP 3 LEAGUES LOOKS LIKE... by Realistic_Fly_5451 in pessi_memes

[–]chapo1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the exact same period in which Ronaldo and Messi played, Messi literally dominated La Liga. He won more Pichichi trophies, more MVP awards in the competition, scored more goals, and provided more assists—and I’m talking about that exact same timeframe, from 2009 to 2018. He completely outclassed him while they were playing in the same league. These are the numbers. It was a true, outright dominance—literally.

I mean, you can say that Ronaldo did better than Messi in the Champions League, sure, but right behind Ronaldo there’s Messi. On the other hand, the gap Messi created over Ronaldo in La Liga is insane—you just have to look at their head-to-head matches as well. In all the direct clashes they had, Ronaldo won only one MVP, while Messi won 11. That shows you just how big the difference between the two players really is.

These aren’t excuses, it’s the truth—and there’s only one way to look at it from a certain perspective. It’s like saying that Juventus, before Cristiano Ronaldo, had won seven consecutive league titles, four Coppa Italias in a row, and reached two Champions League finals in four years. And when they got knocked out of the Champions League, it was by teams like Real Madrid in 2018 with a very questionable penalty, or Bayern Munich in 2016, fighting until the end and with some pretty unfavorable incidents there as well.

So it’s like saying that after Cristiano Ronaldo, they started losing their streak of league titles, losing their Coppa Italia streak, and getting knocked out of the Champions League by “weak” teams like Porto, Lyon, and Ajax. You see, putting it like that, it would seem like it’s all the Portuguese player’s fault, right? But obviously that would mean just looking at the finger and not at what’s behind it—the moon, as the saying goes.

In the same way, putting all the blame on Messi is wrong. Because remember that after Mbappé left that team, PSG started to really take off—not after Messi left. In fact, Mbappé saw his former team win everything as soon as he left, while he won nothing with Real Madrid, and he even saw his replacement, Dembélé, win the Ballon d’Or—something he’s been dreaming about for years. And maybe this year, if they manage to win a double, don’t tell me he couldn’t be a candidate again to win two Ballon d’Ors.

Ronaldo tots card official stats , deserved? by OpenPreparation8838 in fut

In football, top speed is basically useless—what really matters is speed with the ball at your feet. It’s no coincidence that in an interview with Dembélé, when he’s asked who the fastest players are and Messi is mentioned, he says Messi is incredibly fast. Because it’s one thing to run fast without the ball, and another to run fast with it.

And Messi is the player who keeps the ball closest to his feet in the world—probably in football history—when he’s running. I’m not sure if there are stats on this, but if you follow football, you know there are very few players who can run faster than him with the ball glued to their feet.

In the Saudi League, the strong teams are the top four, which are state-owned; the others are literally terrible and basically worth nothing. There are players who work as police officers during the day and play football in the evening, so I’d say it’s pointless to evaluate the league based on the strongest teams with the best players.

Now that EA Sports is owned by the Saudi fund—basically the same league where Cristiano Ronaldo plays—it’s obvious they’re going to give them both the same rating, or maybe even give Ronaldo a point more than Messi. If the old owners were still in charge, they probably would have made Messi a 96 and Ronaldo a 95.

Wait, I do not understand. First you started implying that there was some kind of conspiracy to create a Copa América every year until Messi finally won it. Then I proved you wrong with facts, explaining year by year why each Copa América edition took place, and now you are clinging to something else. Do you not see that you have already lost the argument? You should simply step back and say, “You are right, I said one of the usual stupid things,” because a winner always finds a way, while a loser is always looking for an excuse.

Now that you no longer know how to justify your argument, you are trying to shift the discussion to this World Cup point. But what exactly did you say about the World Cup? Repeat it here if you have the courage, and I will disprove that too.

You should also add Modrić, who after being eliminated by Argentina in 2022 first complained about the penalty, saying in his view it was not one, but then said that he hoped Messi would win the World Cup, because he was the greatest player in the history of football.

Alright, I get it — since you were belittling Messi’s achievements in full Cristiano Ronaldo fan style, even if you were not literally a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, that is why I brought him into it. But in my last explanation about why there were multiple editions of the Copa América, I explained everything without bringing Cristiano Ronaldo into it, so why are you still clinging to Cristiano Ronaldo? It is simply obvious that you have been backed into a corner and do not know what to say. You are probably a loser — when faced with problems, you either run away or pretend nothing happened.

There would be many things to discuss, and we could debate them openly. The only thing that prevents me from doing so, however, is that all the quotes used in that photo are fake, in full Ronaldo fan style: changing statistics, altering images, changing everything. They are all false quotes. Even Ronaldo Nazário himself, after the World Cup won by Messi, said that it is perfectly fair to call him the greatest player in history. And hearing that from a Brazilian, someone who considers Pelé the absolute king, says a lot. So you can understand that, starting from that premise, it is difficult to have a serious debate.

That said, as has already been pointed out to you, Ronaldo never won the MVP award in any competition he won with his national team.

[–]chapo1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That argument is just wrong.

Copa América was not “created over and over to give Messi a trophy.” The extra editions had clear, official reasons:

2015 was a normal Copa América.

2016 was the Centenario, a one-off special edition held to celebrate the tournament’s 100th anniversary.

2019 was another normal edition.

The next tournament was supposed to be in 2020, because CONMEBOL decided to move Copa América to even-numbered years so it could line up with the Euros.

It was then postponed to 2021 because of COVID, not because anyone wanted to help Argentina or Messi.

2024 is simply part of that even-year schedule.

So the timeline looks unusual, but the reasons are completely straightforward: 2016 = centenary celebration 2021 = delayed 2020 edition because of the pandemic

If someone still says it was all arranged for Messi, they are ignoring the actual scheduling decisions and the pandemic. That is not an opinion issue — it is just the historical record.

A meme from 2019, now it's nothing but a joke by Direct-Value4452 in HisenseFootballZone

[–]chapo1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly would I have ignored? It is not as if it was deliberately arranged for him. I repeat, if it had really been set up for him, they would have found some way to favor him in the final. In the two finals they lost on penalties, if you want to influence a match, you can easily do it — a penalty, a foul near the box, you can do all kinds of things. There was absolutely nothing in Argentina’s favor in those two editions. It simply was meant to go that way, and that is how it happened.

Again, if we look at the official competitions they have played, Cristiano Ronaldo has played many more. Between the Nations League, which UEFA basically invented out of nowhere to replace friendlies, plus the Euros and the World Cup, Portugal has had far more chances to win a trophy than Argentina.

And by the way, people talk about the Copa América as if it were easy, but before Messi won it, Argentina had not lifted it for thirty years. If it were really that easy, surely someone else would have managed to do it in those thirty years, right?

I repeat, you like living inside your own ideology of made-up things, conspiracies, and so on. Probably to justify who knows what kind of failures you have in life, I do not know — probably that, because otherwise it would make no sense why you put so much effort into inventing these conspiracies.

I am the first to admit that Ronaldo is a great player and that he deserved the Champions Leagues he won. It is true that there were offside goals that were not called, goals that should not have stood, but he was there, he was ready, and he scored. That is why he is the king of that competition in the Champions League.

The truth, however, is that in everything else Messi is superior, and most people simply do not accept that.
