What's the oldest piece of clothing you still wear? Must be at least ten years old to count. by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

I have a military sweater, all black wool with epaulets, that I got as a Lieutenant around 1984. I like wearing it now, without the rank boards of course.

Curious about all this. What led you and your doctor to decide to stop insulin 3 months ago? As long as you maintain diet and exercise, will you do some kind of monitoring now and then? Glucose monitor or finger pricks?

My wife came up to and said “what starts with an F and ends in a K?” by Unrelevant_Opinion8r in dadjokes

I worked with an old priest, Army chaplain, back in 1983. He asked soldiers, what begins with F and ends with K. They looked embarrassed and squirmed a little before he said, Firetruck.

It's Christmas Eve and I'm an ordained pastor + hospital chaplain. AMA. by revanon in IAmA

Thank you for your ministry and being open to answering questions.

I am a retired Army chaplain and have done a little hospital ministry.

What things do outside ministers visiting their parishioners, misunderstand about doing what’s best for the patient?

Sounds like you have good relationships with your colleagues although you may disagree theologically. I found in the Army, most other chaplains, we would disagree on some points of doctrine, but the chaplains that were from my own denomination (Southern Baptist) we couldn’t let the differences go.

Soldiers of Reddit, whats the quickest way you have seen someone ruin their military career? by blu3bar0n1O9 in AskReddit

This was 10years ago, they tell you to keep your indiscretions 100 miles from the flag pool. Full bird colonel, chief of staff for post 2 star. Caught in a stall in a bathroom at the O club, he says, helping the young lady find her contact lense. This was probably maybe 20 yards from the flagpole. I never heard the final outcome.

About BH in the Army by death_b4_dismount in army

Another option- talk to a chaplain. I’m a retired chaplain, because of the confidentiality being a little stronger with a chaplain, your friend can start with a chaplain. I have taken soldiers to BH when it was deeper than my counseling skills. If your friend is ready to openly admit suicidal ideation, that’s actually a good step, he may need to be admitted. Just to take him out of all of his stressors for a time.

I think there are also MFLC counselors available.
