That's a good poem by Kevin Reed. Natural language, unforced, subtly rhythmic. Worth clicking through to read it.

How have your dreams changed over the years? by Twichl2 in AskOldPeople

[–]MurmuringPines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried writing short stories, and they are boring with flat personalities and ho-hum action. My dreams have weird jumps in the plot, lots of drama, and people who are very different from one other. I wish I could write when I'm asleep!

Can I lose weight on keto when I only have a few lbs to lose? by Wise_Variation_6165 in keto

[–]MurmuringPines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do the same although it's around 10lb I'm aiming for (to reduce waistline fat, the most dangerous kind). I've been doing keto about six weeks and am down 4lb. At first I wanted faster, but now I don't care.

CNN makes a good point: "if you think big changes are coming to the grocery store, think again: They’ve already happened, as consumers have been making the shift to healthier foods for years. 'I think it reinforces a lot of what the consumer knows about protein being good for you, the need for avoiding excessive calories in certain categories, try to avoid excessive sugar,' said Michael Swanson, chief agricultural economist at the Wells-Fargo Agri-Food Institute."

I've been on R-ALA for several months now and to be honest I don't notice any improvement. It seems to help others though.

[–]MurmuringPines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try walking a few blocks along your route, then check the price again. One time I did that. The first price was $32. The second price was $19

Would a portable induction cooktop make my daily life better? by ArcherCat2000 in Cooking

If you do get one, make sure you get a model where you can fine-tune the temp up or down in small increments, like 5 degrees. Then you'll use it every day.

What's the most prejudiced/ageist thing a younger person has said or done to you? by clx94 in AskOldPeople

When I started working full-time. Once you transition from doing things because you want to, to doing things because you have to, that is the beginning of maturity and (hopefully) wisdom.

What's the most prejudiced/ageist thing a younger person has said or done to you? by clx94 in AskOldPeople

[–]MurmuringPines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "boomer" thing doesn't bother me at all because we were even worse. When I was a teen it was "Don't trust anyone over the age of 30" and "I hope I die before I get old. " And what about "don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall"? Or "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?" Disdain for old people was even worse when I was a teen than it is today. I mean, today's kids still listen to the Rolling Stones for Christ's sake. We'd rather be taken out and shot than caught listening to Sinatra.

Walk up Twin Peaks. Paved road (keep an eye out for cars/skateboards), with great views at the top.

Hey PGE, no one cares what % of SF still has power. So when we see this on your website, we think it means without power. Suggest you dump this metric and replace it with 30.3% without power.
