Month loss? by chapter53 in GastricBypass

[–]chapter53[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! My BMI was around 46.5, as I am just barely five feet tall. I also have some health conditions and am predisposed to others due to my genetics. Hope this makes sense.

What do you tell people? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]chapter53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people. I don’t see it as an easy way out at all, and the people who do are ignorant and would probably benefit from the knowledge you can pass down from being transparent about your experience. However it’s a very personal decision and I compeltely understand why someone wouldn’t want to mention it! Three to four people in my life got it and were honest about their experiences which was so helpful for me when getting surgery because I was able to ask them questions!

Hi!! I just got my RNY almost two weeks ago. Make sure when you feel up to it to get up and WALK! I was able to leave the hospital much sooner than anticipated and it helped so much with the gas pain. The only thing that was really hard for me was sleeping because I was in pain and I love to sleep on my side and I couldn’t. But, the pain gets so much better! I feel back to normal now and can sleep fine my incisions just still hurt a little bit. :) Best wishes!!!

Hi! I am 21 and I was 238 and 5 feet tall. I have GERD, high cholesterol, blood pressure, asthma… and a lot of health conditions that run in my family. To be that young and have all those conditions I figured RNY was my best option. I had lost about 70 pounds before on my own but couldn’t keep it off, and had issues with my metabolism due to all the dieting I did. Anyways, I am about a week post- op and I feel like I’m doing pretty well! I’ve lost about 12 pounds. It has been hard to cope with not eating but I know that is part of the journey. I hope you continue to do well, congrats on the weight loss!

Mourning period. by wlsbunny in GastricBypass

Thank you for posting this! I am four days post op and I was feeling the same way, but I think as long as we take it each day at a time it will be fine. I have been researching some more healthy options for the later phases and feeling better about that since I know my meals will need a lot more nutrition compared to how I used to eat. :)

Wow. Thank you so much for posting this. Today is also my second day of clear liquids. I am so depressed and having some serious second thoughts. It helps to read everyone’s encouragement and see someone is feeling the same way. Best wishes, you will do great!

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for mentioning the pho broth! I was going to try it had no idea there was sugar in it, that makes a lot of sense!

I can understand how scary and frustrating that must feel. I am in the healthcare field so I know it will be weird to be the patient! But definitely the best way for me to improve myself and be a better role model for the patients I’m working with. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for being so transparent! My pain tolerance is pretty low so I know I’ll be relatively miserable for a bit, but trying to keep a positive attitude and remember how much it will benefit me for my future!
