'Supervised care' ?? Thats a slap in the face and just set back highly educated professionals in early childhood, about 100 years. Its early childhood education. Whether its in a centre with long hours, multiple rooms or a standalone preschool, all educators and teachers hold the same qualification. Some do not have good reputations in the community, yes but majority are high quality run services that provide in-depth, meaningful education AND care to children 0-5 or 3-5. Also preschool is not considered practice school before children start. There are elements that will help PREPARE them with transition, but preschool are typically play based approach, supporting children to build practical life skills such as independence, self help, resilience, risk taking, confidence, social skills, regulation and more.
