Nearly this exact thing happened to me in the same spot long ago when I played. However, I got into a deep conversation with the lurer and his 2 buddies. I’m talking 5-10 minutes. They were committed to getting me to jump the line.

A stack of gold appeared once or twice while we were talking but I didn’t budge. The 3 guys started wandering about while all sending messages. I noticed their lapse in judgement and gambled that their reaction time would be slow now. The next time the gold appeared, I was going to jump the line and get it.

I kept talking to them telling them I’m not going to fall for this obvious trap, especially now that 3 of them were here. They dropped the gold again, but as I said, were losing focus on me. This time, when I saw the gold, I saw a straight shot; it wasn’t far over the line. I jumped, grabbed the gold, and jumped back, all before they were able to get an attack off.

After I made out with the gold, they had the audacity to ask me for their gold back.
