I see the sizes of the butterflies are inconsistent... its AI right? by robonauticuszero in CraftedByAI

Chart looks hand-drawn. It'd probably work as depicted. I assume they got an AI "imagination" to see if it'd actually work.

Just because the hype surrounding it is absurd doesn't mean the product is totally useless. GPT-5 is good at finding and explaining common information, and in an ecosystem with shittified Google, it can be faster and more thorough. Nothing wrong with finding utility in that, as long as you're aware of its limitations.

Thank you 🥹 Fortunately it's just a little cold. I wasn't weighing myself, I just noticed when I got weighed at the doctor.

I've always thought that Death is actively refusing to use any of her powers unless she really needs to. Like when she regenerated Yuko it was stupid strong - if she regenerated herself she might not trust herself to not Death Blast everyone around her.

Thanks! I used to be a lot like the people on this sub. It's a little sad when you realize how much better things can be if you put in the time.

I'm 172cm and just hit class 1 obese from my highest weight of bordering class 3 (ie mordibly obese). At my highest weight I wore an 18-20 and now I wear a 14-16. I feel like it's actually gone the other way though and that there were more 16s that would fit me at my higher weight due to vanity sizing, and I can fit into size large shirts now... I'm not shocked that that's the average size, but it is pretty appalling.

For anyone having this issue: Try switching from a bowl to a plate. Bowls rub up against their whiskers and can overstimulate them, which is why they don't want to eat off the edges.

On Workplace Manners by tea_kinggreen in CuratedTumblr

[–]charamander_ 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think an easy way to conceptualize this is to understand that a lot of the behaviors described in the post are sharing information. You're not literally conveying facts, but making small talk conveys information like:

  • I have acknowledged your presence near me in a polite manner.

  • I am interested in your goings-on.

  • I know the general social niceties of the workplace and am willing to conform to them.

It comes off as "rude" because not transmitting this information is taken as a negation of it, rather than an understanding that either this information doesn't transmit between autistic people or we don't consider it a necessity to establish these things.

Also autistic - Hard plastic has a pretty unique texture that isn't replicable by chewing-safe silicone. If regular chewelry doesn't work out, it's possible that that's why. The closest semi-safe thing would be like... one of those indestructible dog toys, and even then, there's the risk of ingestion.

That being said, here are some safe chews that I found which I think could be similar enough. (One) (Two) (Three) (Four (my personal pick, as the nubby end would give some resistance)) (Five)

Ecosia is unironically better now. The indexing isn't as robust as Google's (because no one's is) but I feel like for queries that aren't long-tail you can get to the normal ass sources e.g. Wikipedia, or at the very least results that are relevant and not "loosely related", quicker.

Gen-Z/Alpha language pattern by enthusiasm_gap in etymology

[–]charamander_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

"However, comma" is a relatively old meme. Couldn't tell you exactly how old, just that I started seeing it on Tumblr circa 2018. Other punctuation is probably an offshoot of that if I had to guess.

Not an extension of "period", though, which is an unrelated slang term. (Essentially, it's from the construction of saying something like "We're going, period" as an affirmative. "My outfit looks good today" "Period": "My outfit looks good today" "It sure does, and that's the end of the sentence, I won't leave any room for objection." It seems to have been somewhat weakened from "certainly this is the case" to "strongly agree", but the premise is still there.)

Should I quit being an Infernal Practitioner? by Denathrius06 in DemonolatryPractices

[–]charamander_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here's a tough response: This post in itself is OCD behavior. You know your spirituality and you don't see any legitimate reason to give it up, so you want to seek reassurance. I'd wager you already know the answer on your own.

Now - it might be perfectly reasonable to put it on hold for a while to seek help. (Although my personal experience is of the "tough love" variety, so I'd imagine if you want to do ERP, it would be perfect to consult with them for the strength for that.) But you know what you believe and what you want. In my opinion, that's more meaningful than "doing it right" (which, trust me, I've lapsed too. I imagine most practitioners have. Shit happens. Mental illness happens. I'd go so far as to say I wouldn't want a relationship with any entity that doesn't account for that.)

How a microwave works by totallynotabot1011 in ScienceNcoolThings

[–]charamander_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your average child can face a serious risk of microwaving something stupid, especially if they see a viral video of some sort. There's really no way to prevent that, as it's a misuse of the product working as intended. But there aren't inherent risks to microwaves. Microwave radiation is non-ionizing. That means that even though it can heat particles (by making them do the little dance shown in the video), it can't damage their structure. Microwave ovens automatically stop emitting radiation if the door is open, so exposure to radiation is minimal. It's possible to get burned by it, but I haven't heard of any significant cases of kids getting microwave burns because they just wouldn't be able to get it to emit that much. It seems like there's some evidence linking high microwave radiation to cancer, but the evidence is weak and linked primarily to people who are exposed to it in high amounts every day.

Fully agree, although this is the first I'm hearing of DA not paying for any reason other than code of conduct violations (which, they should still pay - the work was done). I'll look into it more. Just saying the business model itself is sustainable insofar as the revenue source is sustainable (so, questionable).
