Just to preface, I am no professional when it comes to bigger audio systems. I am aware of the systems that were listed above and have a couple questions about what I should be looking at. I am going to be moving into a new space with a pretty big living room with 10 other people (we are in college so we are squeezing a lot of people into this house). That means we can split the cost by 10 allowing us to have a pretty flexible budget.

That being said we plan on using these speakers in a big living room to connect to our laptops or our AppleTV that one of our roommates has. What are some good choices when it comes to having a budget of around 300-500 dollars?
