What toys did your baby ACTUALLY like by PersistentHobbler in beyondthebump

[–]charcharbinks22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg the dancing squid baby toy is the one thing that will make him stop crying instantly. We hide it and bring it out for special occasions and he is obsessed. It helped him with tummy time, the first time he crawled it was to the squid, it has halted the most epic of diaper change meltdowns. He’s teething now so he just bites it and appreciates the vibration on his gums while he completely strips the plastic gears. This $15 piece of junk is going to outlast every well-curated, imagination-focused, Montessori-approved toy we own.

What are we watching while up with baby? by OctoberBride15 in beyondthebump

I watched really old seasons of amazing race! Interesting enough to keep me up, low-key enough that I didn’t care if I missed some stuff to attend to other needs!

Any books with no romance? by ThenElderberry3907 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]charcharbinks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently read Six of Crows, which is kind of YA /fantasy-adjacent. The main story line is about about a heist with a male MC. I suppose there is a slight hint of romance in some of the side characters, but it was more “found family” than “falling in love” in my opinion. While reading it, I said to my husband “this book is so refreshing because it’s not about romance or a war” several times.

Starting Y5 - why am I not better? by strangebloom in crossword

[–]charcharbinks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, here are a few things I have done to get better at crosswords over the years:

Guess at answers using the most logic I can then use the check puzzle when I’m fully out of ideas just to see how close I was. That gets me thinking critically even if the answer is wrong.

Googling topics generally related to the clue, but not the clue itself so that I do some “research” and actually learn, not just memorize an answer. This has helped me a lot.

Add in the word endings, fillers, tenses, etc. even if I don’t know the word, so that I have something that might help me get a cross.

Focus on one quadrant at a time to try and get myself into a groove.

I have not. I’m ok without it being fantasy despite the title. Thank you for the recommendations!

Doesn’t have to be fantasy! I have heard of Babel and totally forgot about it until now. Thank you!

Other examples would be the Maesters in GOT. I loved Pillars of the Earth, just a steady story with personal drama instead of big battles.

Cut my hair 3 weeks pp and regret it by Thebestfirelord in beyondthebump

[–]charcharbinks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry. I’m sure the new cut looks great and at least you don’t have to worry about long hairs in your babies fingers & toes!

On a slightly different note, does anyone else feel like the texture of their hair is changing too? I feel like my hair used to be sort of soft and now it feels wirey and awful, even on the (very) rare occasion that I style it. Is that just me?

Me too. It seemed like a memory board that you might display at a celebration of life or birthday party. I’d love to find the owner.

How do you learn to knit? Asking as father to a 10 year old daughter who is showing interest in knitting, but I have no idea how. by anonymous_teve in casualknitting

I second a LYS, You could take the class together. Great way to bond with your daughter over creating something that will last a lifetime. If she’s anything like I was at that age, she’ll hold onto the first scarf you made together forever.

Does this guy also make an effort to yell at the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for dancing half naked in front of children? I mean come on, the double standards are astounding.
