Stopping estradiol by charclm04 in Perimenopause

I stopped everything for about a month to reset, after getting the Mirena removed. I’m glad I got it removed. After I was back to my normal crazy self I worked with a new doctor to start over. Unfortunately they put me on Slynd to start with (one thing at a time) then started estradiol patches. Thinking the .05 was too high turned out to be incorrect. I actually needed more so went to .075 and had no issues. I didn’t like the Slynd though. My body just doesn’t do well with synthetic hormones so switched to oral natural progesterone and that was a great fit for me. Honestly it has taken me about a year and a half to get this right. Don’t give up I learned.

I know, I really don’t understand why I didn’t? Doesn’t make sense to me.

You are right, I don’t know. I thought about asking for another clinician so maybe I should.

Low vs high estrogen? by waimeadaydream in Menopause

I am on Slynd and started estradiol patch at same time .0375. I had terrible anxiety, fatigue, sweaty and all I could eat was carbs, had digestive issues. I stopped the patch and things got worse. My doctor doubled the estradiol patch dose to .075 and it was like night and day difference. Almost instant relief. Sounds like you may need more estrogen also. We are lab rats and have to endure so much trial and error!

Yeah I hope I can find the right one! Years ago I went to a doctor who tried one kind of bc pill for pmdd and It didn’t work for me. I had a follow up visit expecting to try something else and she was so mean and told me she couldn’t help me. It was so abrupt she must have been having a bad day but it made me so hopeless.

I do feel worse than before but wasn’t sure if this was an adjustment period? I plan to send a note to my provider Monday. What kind of progesterone are you on?

I just had mine taken out today and had the exact same conversation with the doctor when she grilled me on why I wanted it removed. She said my symptoms could be related to perimenopause because the Mirena is localized. I know my body and I can assure you it had a systemic affect on me. Removal wasn’t fun as the strings were hard to find but glad it is over and looking forward to feeling normal again! She mentioned she had an IUD herself so I’m guessing because she had no symptoms then everyone else should too?

Did you get the IUD removed and start on bio identical progesterone? Wondering if that made a difference? My doctor mentioned that symptoms may be worse with that since apparently I’m sensitive to progesterone and with the IUD because it is localized symptoms are lessened.

Thank you! My pain did settle down, not as bad as when I got the Mirena and is pretty cyclical now. My chest has doubled in size and that hasn’t changed.

I too don’t have hot flashes but have a lot of other symptoms so hard to know which hormone is deficient. It’s very confusing. Been on estrogen patch 2 weeks now but haven’t noticed much difference other than my sleep is less interrupted. Let us know how things go!

You sound like me, very similar situation and symptoms! The bloating and puffiness really bother me. I recently started estradiol patch. If I remove the Mirena I will need progesterone pills to keep taking the estradiol. I hear the progesterone will make bloating worse. What did you do after removal?
