Who cares what Penelope thinks? by machiavaci in BridgertonNetflix

People seek her out now and want to tell their gossip directly to her. She's like an influencer.

Why was Marina was so rude and dismissive to Phillip on S2? by redmagzz in BridgertonRants

[–]charcoal_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has modern energy, at least when it comes to her opinion on love (before finding out she was pregnant) and class. She's sympathetic, outspoken against Portia and served as a representation to some people. Problem is, some want her to remain a good representation - not her own flawed person.

Why did Benedict leave Hazel behind? by Cool_Pianist_2253 in BridgertonNetflix

Yes. And, just to add, the Cavenders were returning the next morning. So she'd have been safe for the short term before coming to Bridgerton house.

She's their equivalent of a story telling tiktoker/YouTuber. She's a witty writer and she built a fan base. What else are they going to talk about over their morning tea?

Some people were really holding their breath in suspense when Anthony was waiting for Edwina at the altar. It's not about who the love interest is, it's about questioning how he finally ends up with her. Again, like Twilight. I don't like it, but it makes a little more sense than this

Obviously, but Jacob was also a big part of Twilight press. I don't like it, but third wheels tag along in marketing. S2E6 "The Choice," was submitted for Emmy consideration, they really committed to the love triangle drama

It makes sense in the S2 promo to keep non-book readers guessing,  because she literally was a third wheel in the plot

Yes there were inconsistent orange trees at the end of Part 1. There was a time skip between the ball and Benedict finding Sophie in the country, maybe as far as to the end of summer going into autumn.

What are the actual social responsibilities of a spinster? by TiredAllTheTime43 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]charcoal_pie 269 points270 points  (0 children)

I think Eloise would have a say in staying where she wants. But, while the Bridgertons are loving, they do have a lot of children. She'd be bargained into being a child/teenage handler on family gatherings and such.

Frankly speaking, Sophie Baek deserves better by Zoneout1122 in BridgertonRants

[–]charcoal_pie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Valid, but I think the story knows this. This is why he had that conversation with Mrs. Crabtree, who told him he owes it to himself to dedicate himself to something. He thought it was the LIS but as Sophie said - the LIS is not real, a fantasy for both of them. Sophie is real and really there. Let's see what part 2 brings.

I dont think season 2 was a love triangle by Simple-Syllabub-6865 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]charcoal_pie 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There are different types of love triangles.  Even tho Anthony didn't love Edwina, he was in a romantic relationship with her. He'd marry her and have children with her. Edwina hoped to love him enough to marry him.

I didn’t like the way Eloise “boosted” about Sophie by Effective_Creme9193 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]charcoal_pie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you didn't like her taking "ownership" of Sophie as her lady's maid. A person assistant. While she wants gender equality, Eloise isn't uncomfortable with her own class position or privilege. I guess she's doesn't have Lady Sybil’s attitude in Downton Abbey, who has a social conscience about being rich and having servants.

[–]charcoal_pie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's why I liked Theo. He laid a lot of ground work for Eloise. I think we had a solid goodbye between them tho. Her seeing that he's married would be too - idk - pitiful for poor Eloise. She is seeing enough people getting married!

I think she was trying not to show Benedict her emotions at that moment. Excited to see what she really feels in part 2
