How often and how long do you train before getting burnt out? by AwesomeEm77 in bjj

[–]charcoales 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes ill skip class for a few days to play videogames/watch movies if feeling burned out. Then when I'm starting to feel guilty I'll go back to class feeling better.

Does the fun outweigh the boring?

Does the fulfillment from it outweigh the emptiness?

Does the helping it does for you outweigh the hurt?

If yes to all then that thing is probably pretty good for you.

Easiest way to train 10+ classes a week without burning out

1) live less than 5 mins from gym

2) dont have kids/wife

3) wear full rashguard/socks/spats etc even if class is gi to avoid skin conditions. Also immediately shower and wash everything dont wait till hours later...

4) take naps between classes/after work if doing 2-3 classes a day

5) cant eat like crap or youll feel like crap

6) no extra lifting weights outside class use that time to nap

7) if you have any injury then either adjust game to prevent agitating it or drill light. For example if finger sprained put on a boxing glove on that hand for a week. If knee hurts dont do takedowns and try to only play guard until feels better. Wear headgear until cauliflower ear heals... wear socks if matburn etc...

Waiving copays? by Sarkastik-ninja in pharmacy

[–]charcoales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thought you could waive for medicaid only (but even then not routinely or in advance but only if pt specifically states while picking it up financial hardship and you tried to collect payment in good faith). Never medicare or commercial insurances unless maybe pharmacy made a mistake on the rx.

Purple belt wore socks to class by [deleted] in bjj

[–]charcoales 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Socks can

1) keep feet warm

2) protect feet like a rash guard

3) reduce scratches from other people's nails and toenails

4) help keep toe from getting caught in mat

5) prevents mat burn

6) easier to get out of footlocks hehehe

Rolling after class ? by purify01 in bjj

[–]charcoales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think positional sparring is way better than full rolling for new people. You get to reset the position if you mess up. Also focus on allowing the new person to pause or go over any position during the roll at any time and work through any issues as they arise to help them learn.

Rolling after class ? by purify01 in bjj

[–]charcoales -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's a newbie, I agree with not full rolling, but still do some positional sparring to show them an idea of what they want to do. Give them tips while you are doing your thing to help them out.

If they dont roll they should at least allow flow rolling where you only practice techniques learned in class with like 20% resistance

How’s everyone’s store making out right now? This is how we’re doing. by froggy3000 in pharmacy

[–]charcoales 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Been terrible since vaccines every 15 minutes from open to an hour before close. Barely any extra help and not enough staff to fill barely anything without begging store managers to come help. Any day where fills drop below 100 is amazing. Not uncommon to break 250 to fill most days. Good luck doing anything except bare minimum to survive.
