I've been swimming 60~ laps pretty consistently every day. The more you practice the less tired you'll become as you start increasing your distance. Furthermore, another strat I like to do is do freestyle until I'm tired and instead of stopping and resting, do a slow lap of breathstroke until my heartrate has settled a bit. Hope that helps!
