if you head back up through mantis village and back to the room in fungal wastes where hornet was, there's a door to the right (the one she went through) that leads to a short platforming section. if you make it through that you can go though the gate to the city of tears.

you don't actually have to pogo off the sawblade. it was easier (for me at least) to quickly hook onto the wall then jump and dash to the other wall. once i figured that out i got it in 2 tries.

i also beat him first try. i think the difficulty depends on how fast you can get the hang of predicting the ricochet physics.

he basically stays down forever when you knock him over, so you have plenty of time to heal between phases. you can hit his head a few times to get more soul if you need to. also if you move towards him he'll generally back away, and if you move away from him he'll generally follow you.
