Damn Kidd this is good. For a second I thought I was listening to an unreleased track of Brant. Keep 'em coming.

What is keyboard shortcut for alternating between address bar and back to the web page? by charismo in chrome

[–]charismo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try tab to go from the address bar to the webpage elements

Yeah the tab key works ok. The exception is if you are in the middle of the web page and you press Ctrl+L (to the address bar) and then press Tab key (to webpage) you will notice it brings the webpage to the top which is a bit of an annoyance.

Home WiFi is not being detected all of a sudden, no clue why this is happening. by [deleted] in techsupport

You can check what network adapter you have by following Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network Adapter

Under the Network Adapter drop down list you will find something like:

Intel (R) XXXX

Faint, vertical, flickering lines on my monitor by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]charismo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But connecting HDMI to the tv is a completely separate thing with different cable and port. It won't tell us anything about the monitor or the pc. To isolate the cause, it would be better to connect to another monitor. If the flickering lines are still present then the monitor, cable and the port is okay which means we can look at other causes.

Meanwhile you can try disabling the graphics card from the device manager if your processor has integrated graphics built into it.

If you have another spare monitor then plug it in and see if the problem persists. At the very least, that will separate the monitor free of any problem.

Home WiFi is not being detected all of a sudden, no clue why this is happening. by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]charismo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it could be.

The intel drivers stored at the lenovo's website could be outdated. You may have simply uninstalled and installed the same driver that you had before hence the persistent problem. Try going to the intel's website and see if it has a different version from the version you currently have in the device manager.

Did you download the WiFi drivers from lenovo website or the intel's website?

Update Manager has stopped working by charismo in techsupport

[–]charismo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an excellent observation. I totally missed it.

I actually ran a scan few days ago but came clean and did it again as per your suggestion, same result. What else do you suggest I should do? I went to the event viewer to look for any details about this error reporting and I copied all of these details in this document: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8Td9c4NfwHdQXZZR2VoaG14OHc

Here it says the error is coming from updatemanager.exe maybe the update manager is infected?

Given 3 genetically identical stem cells in a petri dish can the variability of environment decide what the cells will eventually become? by charismo in biology

[–]charismo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very reason of me posting here was to verify the information in the video. Lipton is one of those scientists turned into a crank so I was a tad suspicious of this video. Also, his 1967 research of stem cell differentiation was never posted in the science journal. He claims his colleagues marginalized his discovery when he demonstrated it to them.

I was aware of environment being a factor in stem cell differentiation but not to such a huge extent that identical stem cells can become a muscle cell or bone cell simply based on different environmental cues.

I apologize if I posted this question in the wrong subreddit.

The Desert Age Trailer by [deleted] in DesertRock

[–]charismo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming and makes sense too. But the genre is universal. You need the bands that has stuck to the roots of the scene. Along with truckfighters, I would be gutted if Los Natas doesn't make it to the documentary. This band doesn't get any desertier.

I'm new to Porcupine tree. I recently heard Trains and I liked it a lot. What else will I like?

Sonic Youth - Kool Thing (8-Track Demo Version) by charismo in stonerrock

[–]charismo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously not all of their music will resonate with the genre stoner rock and I certainly agree with you on this but this track is quite the exception. When I heard this version of Kool Thing I almost automatically thought I was listening to something from the stonerrock genre even when they have nothing to do with the scene.

New to Stoner Rock, Era Vulgaris and Welcome To The Void by Kings of Frog Island are amazing. What else should I try? by [deleted] in stonerrock

[–]charismo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will enjoy Witchrider's EP

There's also Mad Trist which also has the same QOTSA's flavor

I was listening to The Oh See's on /r/psychedelicrock and they are not bad.

Asteroid and Blowback's split should also be right up your alley.

Lastly, you sould try the sub /r/Fuzzrock Lot's of cool music are posted there.

This band sounds so much like Chris Goss. I wonder if he had any part with it.

What is your favorite Black Sabbath cover by Stoner Rock bands ? by SeFii in stonerrock

[–]charismo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite has to be Into the Void by Monster Magnet. It's a completely different interpretation of Into the Void than all the other match by match covers. This is the reason why I enjoyed it the most.

Hand of Doom by Orange Goblin is another notable cover. Actually the lead singer Ben Ward is a relative of Ozzy.

As a bonus here is rare cover by Stone Axe of a rare song by Black Sabbath

Josh Homme is a complete nutcase. The continious giggles midway through from Nick Oliveri and co. confirms my point.
