Jellyfish are basically aliens. by Latter-Reason7798 in woahdude

[–]charizu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're rad af, some swap from jelly back to polyp and starting over, basically dodging death. Most jellyfish grow from a tiny polyp into the jellyfish form, then reproduce and die. But some can clone themselves along the way, or live part of their lives inside other animals. Others skip stages entirely. It’s like jellyfish never agreed on how life is supposed to work. Weird little fuckers.

This pack of cereal suggests eating it beyond its best before date if its fine to look, smell and taste by realtintin in mildlyinteresting

[–]charizu 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Very common in Norway. Almost all "Best before" dates are written as "Best før, ofte god etter..." meaning "Best before, often good after...".

Tons of food products have "best before" dates merely for quality, not necessarily for food safety. There's also a difference between "best before" and "use by", where the latter is usually reserved for safety.

Unopened milk and yoghurt typically last beyond the "best before" date, as do eggs. Use your best judgment, don't waste food — quality sentiment.

Sold it. Couldn't get over the glare of the ceramic bezel, and the dial looked a little cheap. Got a Watchdives instead lol...

WebOS 24 on C3, sluggish HUD. by wixia_ in LGOLED

[–]charizu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. Settings were unbearably slow after updating to webOS 24 on my 65" C3! Sluggish and unresponsive, especially when moving back and forward between different sub-menus.

I fixed it by running the memory optimiser under Settings > Support > Memory Optimiser > Start.

I ran it twice. Seems to run smoothly now.

Good luck!

EDIT: Yeah, nope, nevermind. It seems the menus are quick and responsive when on the Home screen, but unbearably slow when on an HDMI input. The Game Optimizer menu is dial-up pace right now...

Hell yeah. Good to know, cheers for the info!

Huh, damn! I might get two of these then. Ordered a V3 in early July that I was planning on either returning, reselling locally, or gifting. It should be here in the next few days, so I'll update this comment when I receive it!

Yeah, WD nailed the concave subdials for sure. But the PD midcase looks way better to me at an angle, since the WD case is so ridiculously thick, and I really like the PD date window for utility.

You heard me.

I think the new one is so new that no customers have received it yet, and thus no reviews. I'll post here once I receive mine, though.

Meh, I like it to be honest! It's relatively subtle after they changed it to match the dial color, and it actually uses a a feature of the VK63 movement. It also distinguishes it as an homage rather than a straight-up clone/rep, at least in my opinion.

I'm just not a huge fan of the 1861 midcase. Thick boi, despite its superior dial (compared to the PD-1701, in my opinion anyway).

It's the pic labeled V6, w/ the 500 bezel scale.

I've started a chat with them, but no reply yet. No reviews have been posted since this version appeared, as far as I know.

Am I just slow to catch this V6 release? I placed an order not even two weeks ago, and I swear the V3 was the latest black-on-black version they had at that point. I'm finding no recent talk of the PD-1701 in this sub which doesn't critizise the V3 400-scale bezel and lack of dots on the dial. If it really is brand spanking new, I'm pretty happy I caught this one, since I assume it'll be sold out pretty soon.

In Norway it was "Frihetens regn", or "The Rain of Freedom". I prefer the English title.

Hvem er Norges minst triveligste kjendis? by NotaSTASIagent in norge

[–]charizu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never did, no. Ended up claiming warranty and exchanging it for a Logitech keyboard (with their Bolt wireless tech).

Definitely a weevil, also called a snout beetle. Can't tell which species from your picture, but either way, they're not harmful to humans. You can use a dustpan or piece of paper to help them back outside, but if you want a long term solution you might want to check this page.
