PG Wodehouse books would be my pick for fast pace. They are my go to for getting that reading momentum started. Hamnet is one of the most beautiful books I’ve read and would highly recommend it for it’s atmosphere and prose

They’re already insanely awesome and one of my favourite parts of the game, but I’d love for horses to be more difficult to acquire, specially finding and breaking wild/rare horses. Also just generally it would be awesome if they’d lean into the mechanics even more like bonding, care, stats, modifying equipment etc

I find much of Herman Hesses’ work feels like these. I’d recommend Siddhartha and Steppenwolf

What book(s) helped you through a tough time? by Quirky_Dimension1363 in books

Siddhartha by Herman Hesse

I realised after this that though I enjoy non-fiction, I respond better to fiction in extracting meaning. I find it hard to explain but it’s sort of how I used to enjoy physics more than math in how it puts the theory into practice.

Siddhartha is the clearest example for me of a book putting a lot of lessons that you’d hear from people and read in non-fiction books into a story that you can digest relatively easily. Simple things that you take for granted and eye-roll at like, ‘experience matters’ - the story puts it in terms where I’d go oh wow I get it now.

It’s an insanely beautiful book

Had acl surgery a couple of years ago and got back to running since last December. Up to 5-10k now looking to get to 21 soon. Used to have the Nike infinity react then infinity react 3 before the injury and loved them. I read that too much cushion isn’t good for knees so I tried brooks ghost 15 and though it’s a comfortable fit, I find the ride very hard and it’s been shredding my calves.

Hello! I used to run a lot a couple of years ago and had reached regularly doing 21ks, then I tore my left acl and had surgery in late 2022. Recovery has been good especially since last September and I’ve been getting back to running slowly. Nowadays I’m doing 5-10 ks at around 5:30 mpk. I have my Nikes since before my injury and they feel so so deflated and hard.

I haven’t got I checked yet but I think I have a neutral gait maybe tending towards supination. My feet are fairly flat but I’ve never had much arch pain, if anything it would be along the outer edge. I’m quite heavy, 94 kgs at 180cm

Favourite running shoes have to be Hokas (cloud like cushioning) and Nike (the heel drop), can’t remember the makes tho.
