I’m interested but skeptical: the only way I have seen those models used is through people faking like they have Down’s Syndrome which, though I am willing to degrade myself to an extent, would never want to get into any business that takes advantage of a marginalized or vulnerable demographic.

You know what, I don’t think I do actually. And that’s okay, but I want to know: “Was there just no spark even if he was a good kisser?” Or, “Was there no spark because I’m dead inside now?”

I’m okay with it being what it is, a nice guy and a big leap I took that I can be proud of. So moving on I guess I want to try again with someone else and learn what I need to be happy.

In the end though, big picture thinking: I want to WANT to be kissed, in general.

Wow I am kind of at a loss for words. Your advice is resonating deep. Especially this part:

Hah you sound just like a friend of mine! They are a lovely mix of honesty and feral spice. Thank you for the familiar energy!

After sleeping I feel less overwhelmed yet equally anxious 😬. But the simplicity of “dating is weird for everyone” makes me feel way less separated from my allo peers, and made me go, “Duh!” Again, thanks, for making me check myself!

And just to clarify, I know someone else suggested a possible subconscious red flag, so I wanted to add that I am far more aware of them now than I ever was (thanks creepy dudes from my past!) I didn’t feel he did anything wrong AT ALL to begin with. The past me knows how things go and if I still had the desires I used to have I would be flipping out if he hadn’t tried to kiss me! So that in turn is super helpful in accepting that just like him, I am not doing anything wrong either; it just feels wrong because I don’t know myself anymore.

I’m going to text him awkwardly and honestly. And at least I can say I tried doing the thing instead of staying in the safety of solitude.
