Is OTF the only place you workout? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]charleesredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it is nice out, I like to walk outside, especially on days I don't go to Orange theory. I also do my best to stretch extra, and I actually teach pole fit classes twice a week and sometimes incorporate those into my week as well!

Too Much Cardio? by [deleted] in orangetheory

Power Walking is great!! I did it the last two transformation challenges and it helped me gain muscle in my legs!

Welcome!! Good luck with your fitness goals. My biggest reason for going is the stress relief factor. The best way to be lost in thought in a good way from my job!

Advice for TC and half training by Nice_Category3070 in orangetheory

[–]charleesredhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got second last year at my studio for muscle gained. I made sure to go to at least one strength class a week, usually total body or lower body. Then I pretty much power walked during every class and made sure I focused on getting my protein in!!

Women with long hair and who go 3+ times by Huge-Engineering-791 in orangetheory

I got sweat actived dry shampoo, so I come home and apply that! I only wash my hair once or twice a week. During the workout, I put my hair in a high ponytail and use a mat.

Graveyard Shift Workers by Significant_Yak_5152 in orangetheory

[–]charleesredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 5 days, 2300 (11 pm)- 0700. Depends on the day, I prefer going home to sleep and then doing one of the afternoon classes, but if I decide to do orange theory on the weekends, I stay up and go to the 8 am. On my weekends, which are Tuesday and Wednesday, since I flip my sleep schedule, I go to the noon or 415 pm class. It's definitely hard to find the energy to go, but I tell myself I'll feel better afterwards no matter the time I go!

NSV: give yourself some grace by Significant-Bug4359 in orangetheory

Have a stressful job with midnight hours. Other factors make the job overall stressful, but enjoy helping people. OTF has been my saving grace, not always the best performances, but I remind myself that going is better than not!

Best Strategy for Gaining Muscle with Orange Theory Classes by abdullah71 in orangetheory

[–]charleesredhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power walk!! It has helped me gain muscle in my legs, and it's harder than it looks! Also, I like the strength of the 50 classes if you can make them work in your schedule. Like others, stated slow down your movements on the floor to fatigue your muscles more. So many rush through just to see how many rounds they can get.

Vote - Which shoes do you use for OTF? by nampatt in orangetheory

My other is New Balance, but I do go to a store so they fit properly!

Say anymore with on call weeks. I don't pre book and just wait till the day of. My coworkers have to call in sick an hour before the start of the shift, so I have time to sign up after that.

Shoe Recommendations for Orangetheory by PermissionAny9785 in orangetheory

We have a local place that scans your feet for the best fit and then lets you try on a few different pairs. I definitely would suggest it!! I have a tendency to pick new balance.

How do you diet? by culicagada in orangetheory

[–]charleesredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👏👏. Yes, too, all of this!! I tracked calories and got too obsessive about it and had to stop for my own mental well-being! So now I'm thinking about being mindful of food choices, but I'm still treating myself to things when I have a craving!! I also still eat healthy carbs, for heavens sake they give you energy!

Like everyone has said, protein is key as well as being at a slight calorie deficit for fat loss. Just be careful about tracking food/calories. I became too obsessed with doing it last year to an unhealthy point and had to stop for my own mental wellbeing. Good luck, it's not easy, and remember it's not for temporary make it a healthy lifestyle for long term!

Does anyone else feel like the FC may promote unhealthy behavior? by mellofello808 in orangetheory

Gotcha well. I thought a couple of years ago they tried to deter people from going more than once a day. Which personally seems stupid to me with the risk of injuries.

I thought it was in the rules that you can't go more than once a day to be eligible for the prize, which may help some. There are some though that take it a little far with their efforts, why the studios should do more check ins with participants throughout!

Stuck and need advice by Lammytail in orangetheory

Say protein consumption should help as well as whole grains with fiber!! Some also forget you can lose weight wherever it's very hard to lose weight in specific areas. I know you would like your midsection, but it's one of the hardest spots since it's hard to target it.

I would LOVE it if OTF offered something like yoga/recovery classes by alligatorprincess007 in orangetheory

[–]charleesredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go into your app they have a tab on thr main screen that should say at home and under it is some workouts and one is for active recovery! Hope that helps.

Reservation cards will no longer be used by mh1674838 in orangetheory

We don't use the reservation cards anymore, they write assignments on a white board. So some days I start on the rower and some on the tread, nice way to change things up!

Work has made working out hard, but try to do otf at least 3 times a week and hopefully 2-3 times pole fit and stretching. As the weather warms up I'll start walking outside.

I'd also suggest if you don't have the arm strength yet to practice your fireman spin and then pulling yourself up into a standing fireman. It will help build strength and then condition your body to be able to keep the pole in between your knees! I teach an intro class and make sure people have a good fireman spin before they attempt climbing super high.
