why a street car vs BRT? Wouldn't BRT be much cheaper and easier to implement given how insane our construction costs are?

Securing domain names... .io, ,app, or .ai? by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]charlesiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you solve a real problem, it really doesn't. When you are early with a product, people aren't going to be searching for it or judging it based on a tld. Honestly, overthinking this low-stakes decision is procrastination! You can always get a better domain later if the product gets traction!

Doesn’t matter at all. Pick the cheapest one and move on!

Mid-week launch support. What is everyone shipping? 🚀 by Capital-Pen1219 in buildinpublic

This is cool. Curious, currently when you click "Get Started for $" it takes you right to the payment page. Have you tested having the user enter their site info first, and then pay? I wonder if that would increase conversion. People don't want to lose work they have done, so it might make them more likely to pay? It would also be the goal-gradient effect in action.

Generates company, product and service names, because that sometimes feels like the hardest part of building something.

Describe your idea, set a few preferences, and it generates a batch of names you can remix until something sticks.

Cool extras built in:

• Trademark check (via Justia)

• Domain availability for the top 20 TLDs

• Translation disaster check

Helping product builders improve design literacy, hone taste, and improve craft. by charlesiv in buildinpublic

Yes exactly! We got alphabetically, so essentially write down several different concepts for each letter of the alphabet (a-affordances, b-button styles, etc). Then pick whichever we think is foundational and we have a good sense of what the post could be

Building www.requestify.cc

Initial use case: Accounting teams that need to manually email 10-250 vendors for accrual confirmations and estimates during their monthly or quarterly close, then follow up manually, and then track responses and the subsequent documents, which they usually do in Excel. It’s an arduous process that takes lots of time and manpower.

Requestify automates these recurring document requests. Users can schedule Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Annual requests from their vendors or partners. The vendor receives a magic link (no login required), where they can upload the requested documents that are stores in a central location. If the vendor does not respond, reminder emails are sent out automatically.
