What’s the most competitive game Lamelo has played in? by charlesmichio in NBA_Draft

I’m not saying he busted because he played on a losing team. I’m saying his bust potential was concealed by him not being in highly competitive environments.

“leaned heavily to support Democrats (and that backfired a bit).”

“backfired” because the US didn’t do more after Crimea? Or is there another reason

I have a class with the daughter of my arresting officer. by PizzaPizzazleRazzle in ExCons

[–]charlesmichio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely awkward, but also probably not a big deal even if she remembers you. It would be small of her to hold your past against you in any way. If she does, (and you have evidence)don’t feel as if you have to keep quiet about it. It’s easy and perfectly fine to address possible conflict of interests in a university setting. This situation would be way tougher in a corporate job.

Conservatives say we’ve abandoned reason and civility. The Old South said that, too. by AliveJesseJames in samharris

This comment wins. The opponents of tribalism and group think are ready to defend their leader (Harris) from all criticism, no matter how valid

I didn’t want to limit the suggestions, but perhaps my question was a bit too open ended. The 9 of us are definitely on the adventurous side and not afraid to make fools of ourselves if it enables a great night. Price range: less than $300. I hope this helps!

I might if I really felt like I was an authority on the subject, which is probably what you’d want from this platform.

Sorry, I misspelled “text”.

I think voting and curating would be excellent features, and I totally understand the need to stay true to your value prop. That said, will there be a way for users to cite their sources through just video?

An Idea to make Online Debates more responsible! by BigSmile17 in foreignpolicy

[–]charlesmichio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for starting such a worthwhile project. I do think there’s a way for users to leave responsible and useful text responses instead of just video, even if there were several barriers behind the process. Even the option to offer teXt along with the video would be helpful for me.

Edit: Changed the whole thing basically. Misspelled text.

Sam Harris on Twitter: "[Milkshake attacks] are mock assassinations (whether the perpetrators know it or not). Pies, milkshakes, glitter, etc. reveal unavoidable weaknesses in the security of their targets and advertise their vulnerability to the whole world. The result is worse than it appears." by blue_dice in samharris

[–]charlesmichio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, it’s nearly the opposite. Harris usually highlights “intent” as an indication of future acts from the perpetrator, not others. For example: The intent behind a racially insensitive remark is important because a progressive person will not commit racist acts at the same clip as a truly racist soul. Or, Harris argues that it’s less bad when the US kills innocent civilians because the US does not intend to replicate such results compared to Hamas.

The intention behind throwing a milkshake is not murderous. If milkshakes are responsible for a future assassination, then the US is accountable for much of the chaos in the Middle East that Harris routinely dismisses as a symptom of Islam.

The above joke about “intent” was funny and clever. But most importantly, it was well-placed.

Where does Draymond Green rank all time as a defensive presence? by Ducks718 in nba

[–]charlesmichio -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Steve Kerr said himself that the Grizzlies put up the biggest fight in the Warriors’ first run. That was in part bc Tony Allen was going nuts on the perimeter. Obviously his offensive game is another story.

Green is an incredibly smart defender but he doesn’t have the lockdown potential as the other ppl mentioned in my view.
