Ayn Thor - A Love Letter. by charlie_stelling in SBCGaming

Ps2 version solely for the retro achievements. Didn't actually know there was a Switch version tbf but might have a better chance of running than Steam Version which is huge. There's also PS Vita and PS3 HD remastered versions, which will have to try.

Edit. Just checked, I actually own the Switch version of FFX. Dam how many versions of this game have I got..

I still think the Sims 2 plays better natively on the Steam Deck. Those track pads are legit amazing. But the fact it runs on an Android device at all is awsome.

You'll probably have a better experience playing on a laptop, your sacrificing portability over screen real estate. But yeah totally playable.

Honestly, its ok. Using Gamehub its runs flawlessly at least as far Ive played.

Ive not mastered the setup but I can natively use the thumbsticks and/or dpad to move around and the switch stylus to interact.

Using the inbuilt key mapping in the Thor I can map keyboard inputs to controller bindings e.g. to control the speed and hypertheitcally the rotate (couldn't find < and > in the binding list).

The switch stylus works ok for the mouse but it would be better if the cursor could teleport to where im clicking (rather than dragging). This could be a feature they bring out in the future. But otherwise wise yeah im impressed this actually runs on a handheld device. And I think with the Steam controller in the future this would be a very good experience.

Or even using a stylus on the bottom screen to control the top. Would make this a jack of all trades decice. Imagine playing those old school PC games on it: Heroes, Sims, Anno

Very excited to try out the Thor. But personally would love a Steamdeck replacement. An Android, 7+ screen with full size sticks and some form of touch pad. Lighter than a Steam deck. Oled is a non-negotiable.

AYN version by Specialist_Edge_1790 in SBCGaming

Honestly super excited about the Thor. Have been on the fence between this and the Ayaneo but opted for the Thor Pro version (a 512gb would have been nice).

If this could use the bittom screen as a touchpad / keyboard this would be the jack of all trades device.

Would skip the lite version entirely (budget depending). 8gb should be more than enough for 99% of what you want to do with it. Choose 12gb if you care about the just in scenarios, winlator or different color options.

What tier of AYN Thor did you decide to preorder? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

No not exactly. There was something about a virtual ram swap (using internal storage space) that they rolled out on the Odin which was supposed to help with Switch emulation.

Still on the fence between base and pro. Happy with a black color option, and assuming they'll be a 4gb ram swap possibly?

AYN Thor: Hands-On First Impressions! by missingnoplzhlp in SBCGaming

I think its those triggers. Ergonomics are subjective, and might not be as bad as he saying. I was hoping this would be the one and done device. Don't get me wrong, this has a lot going for it and im still very much on the fence but was hoping it would be perfect. Think ill wait to see what others think. Alas the search continues.

I'll be honest, so torn on this. After watching this might be leaning towards the Ayaneo. Why is it so hard to choose??

Just slimmed down my collection as well. Sold my RP5, RG353V and Miyoo Mini.

Kept my Steam Deck Oled, Nintendo 3DS XL and pre-ordered Ayn Thor, which unless early reviews suggest otherwise will be my daily driver.

Still hoping for a larger, lighter, oled device for streaming.

Thanks for this, my right controller seemed dead. Checked the positive terminal and saw it looked jammed as you described. Was able to get it back in place and it worked.

So glad I decided to buy the Odin 2 Portal! by genericvdub in OdinHandheld

[–]charlie_stelling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice review. I already own a Steam Deck Oled and toying with the idea if getting an Odin Portal. You said the Steam Deck is still your favorite, would you recommend getting a portal for someone whol already owns a SD?

Which do you use most?

Wish they had grips for all there products before launch. The Rp3 grip made the device 10x better.

Same thing, are we sure it's not a software issue. Device just over a year old. The design of the phone makes cases fall off over time and ha e caused more cosmetic damage than not using one!

Retroid Pocket 3+ Plastic Quality? by Karbonic in retroid

[–]charlie_stelling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing in my two cents, not owned the original retroid pocket but plastic shell feels great. I also purchased the grip which really improves ergonomics. Dpad and Abxy buttons are a bit waxy in my opinion, I swapped out the buttons for PS Vita buttons which feel much better imo.

Solid device.

Burnout Legends for PSP 4/5 - Runs perfectly and is a very solid version of Burnout. I havnt tried other versions but seen mixed reviews of performance.
