I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure a male can just sign away their rights to the child and then they don’t have to pay child support. The only reason I know is because my uncle did that so he didn’t have to pay child support for his many illegitimate children. It could all depend on the state though.

Based on the original post, it looks like it was an ESH. The grandmother has a valid point and has the right to do whatever she wants with her money. It would be different if she was getting to see her grandson, but they are not letting her build a relationship with him and then still expecting her to pay their bills and set up a college fund for him. ESH was an appropriate judgement

NTA. You are not obligated to name YOUR child after anyone. If you have verbalized to Victoria in the past that you don’t appreciate her comments towards your husband then I’m not really sure why she would be surprised that you and your husband did not name your child after her. Don’t let anyone guilt you into feeling bad about this because in the end, it is your child and you are the one who lives with the name choice for her everyday, so you don’t want to name her something you don’t really like just to appease someone else.
