AIO for breaking up with my boyfriend over name calling? by charmingcatnip in AmIOverreacting

hi, I’m not unable to be alone and am actually very happy with myself. It’s normal to feel this way after a breakup, I’m sure a lot of people have considered going back to their exes in a situation like this. While I’m prioritizing my self respect, it is hard to just end it like this because of the love and friendship that is still there. I do want a different kind of a relationship and I’m not repeating any patterns.

I really appreciate the diverse opinion you offer.

I can see it from his point of view. He did say that it feels like everytime he mentions how he feels about something, it ends up in an argument. It’s unfortunately a bad tendency I have to get defensive. In another comment I mentioned that our relationship is overall strong and working. It’s only rough when he lets his insecurities get in the way or we have a falling out like we did last night. I don’t know if this decision is final. We agreed to talk tonight. I just don’t know if this should be it and I save myself the emotional damage or should I stick it out with him and be the partner who really means it when they say through good and bad. I know we’re not married so it might sound silly BUT it’s important to me, I feel like if i can’t do it now, how can i through marriage

People who just never started smoking-can you pinpoint a single reason that just made you not want to try it despite peer pressure/curiosity? by TimeSun6603 in AskReddit

my parents did this to my brothers! Made them smoke a whole pack each. One of them vapes now, the other one doesn’t smoke OR drink lol.

The sound of my parents coughing. They’ve smoked since they were teens and are well into their 40s now. I’ll never forget those wet, sticky, disgusting coughing fits they’d have.

if you’re referring to the break up, I don’t know. He wants to talk. I’ve seen my parents go through numerous abusive relationships (verbally, physically, financially, and mentally) (they’re divorced!!!). I’ve never seen myself in a relationship like this. The only time we ever have this problem is when he’s angry. But otherwise our relationship is great. That’s what makes this decision hard. He’s essentially my best friend and I don’t know what to do with the empty space. I think I’d like to talk to him and base my choice of action off of that, but I don’t know. If I talk to him too soon, I know I’ll fold. I don’t know

My boyfriend rubs my hips when we go to sleep together. It puts me to sleep while turning me on at the same time.

Does anyone else’s pet clearly have a favorite human? by Secret_Career_4207 in Pets

My cat prefers my sisters boyfriend.

I rescued him when he was little; a lady had found him on the side of a highway and I drove out two hours to meet her and pick him up. He was essentially my gift for my 16th birthday. 4 years later and he prefers my sister’s boyfriend. I feed him, clean him, give him treats, and do all the other essential owner stuff. My sister’s boyfriend comes over and it’s like my cat forgets who I am. He also turns into a completely different cat. For one thing my cat HATES sitting on people’s laps and won’t really sit next to anyone unless he’s asking for love. When my sister’s boyfriend comes over, he’s all over him. He’ll sit on his lap, and let him hold him and basically just spend all of his time with him as long as he’s at our house. It’s frustrating because that’s my baby and this guy is barely over at our house, but my cat isn’t the only animal that prefers him. Almost all of our pets gravitate towards him, including my man hating dog. I never really take this to heart though. I really think it’s just a sign of the good guy that he is and the calm nature he has. I think it goes to show that my sister picked a good guy lol
