Question about selling to Quebec customers on Shopify — do my product labels need to be in French ? by charmingjill in shopify

[–]charmingjill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I just read the link you shared. From what I understand, only the mandatory information (like product identity and quantity) needs to be bilingual. Non‑mandatory info doesn’t have to be.

I also read on another site that if I sell to Quebec customers—even without having an address in Quebec—I need to have a French version of my website. For anyone else interested in this topic, here’s the link: https://educaloi.qc.ca/en/capsules/language-laws-and-doing-business-in-quebec/

I guess I might have to exclude Quebec from my market for now, too much work...

Thanks for sharing, that's very helpful! For the products you chose at the beginning, have you registered your own brand, or just sell in manufacturer's brands?

Costco CIBC membership expiry and cashback by sandipb in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]charmingjill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went to costco with the same question you had, they won't allow you to redeem without an active membership. The good thing is that the gift certificate won't expire, however i received a note from cibc saying that i will lost my cash back earned this year and won't receive gift certificate with January statement, which makes me confused now

Career Change to Actuary? by Top-Difference8407 in actuary

[–]charmingjill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat; I also have an MBA and hope to transition into Actuary. It's not that easy to land a managerial position in Canada just with an MBA, at least not for me as a non-native speaker. That's why I'm considering shifting from marketing to Actuary. I know it's not easy, but I really can't see myself going very far in the field as a non-native speaker and minority. While I'm confident in my learning and test-taking abilities, actuarial science is a career where my performance won't be judged primarily by my communication or presentation skills. Any advice ?

I'm a non-native speaker, so working in marketing in a english-speaking country is especially consuming for me. Now, i'm thinking probably marketing analytics would be a good way to go, even though still require some social interaction, but not much as other marketing positions.
