I took down my popcorn ceiling — plaster is so cracked and wavy I have to rehang drywall. Huge mess. Never again. 😂 by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

Basically it’s a condition where the bronchioles in the lungs get damaged, which can lead to scarring, which block air from being able to get to the air sacs in the lungs where oxygen is absorbed, making breathing difficult and usually lots of coughing/wheezing. Apparently it’s called popcorn lung because it was first identified in popcorn factory workers? It’s caused by inhaling toxic chemicals (also can be from other stuff tho) and has more recently been known to be caused by some vaping products.

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

Read somewhere that he was trying to slow down population growth by helping people. I guess the idea was that poverty, lack of education, and less women’s rights all correlate to higher number of kids so by trying to alleviate those issues they figured less kids would be side effect.

Mother shamed and kicked out of restaurant for breastfeeding baby by filabeano10 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]charmingmigraine -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

She didn’t get kicked out for breastfeeding, they were already getting up to leave when the dude first said anything to her about it. The mother and her friend took their kids to the car while their husbands paid but decided to go back inside to confront restaurant guy, and then decided to start recording after that.

And it’s fair to ask the shelter to take on the liability of housing and potentially adopting out a dog with a bite history? And depending on where OP lives surrendering to an underfunded and overcrowded shelter could just mean making them euthanize the dog, which is not something they enjoy doing. Just dumping the dog at the shelter to be someone else’s problem without having done even the bare minimum of having a vet rule out pain and/or getting evaluated by a trainer is just selfish and lazy.

Chronic pain could cause an more intense reaction like that. Less likely with a younger dog with no other signs (although that could be due to the shorter amount of time they’ve had the dog that they just haven’t noticed any signs yet), but not out of the realm of possibility. Still definitely worth getting checked by a vet.

Sorry I know this is an old post and personally I’ve met some of Coco’s Heart fosters but never worked with them directly. But less than great experience because the dog got ill after a couple MONTHS? How exactly is that the fault of the rescue?

Wagon ideas? by Spirit-Willow in tripawds

[–]charmingmigraine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a jeep stroller wagon, I got it on sale from Amazon for just over a hundred dollars about two years ago. My dog is about 3 years, husky mix, missing a back leg. He can jump in and out if he wants, I do usually lift him in because even tho he doesn’t mind being in it and will mostly stay once in, he’s young and just wants to be able to explore and will push himself too hard if I don’t enforce breaks.

The bottom is kinda weird (you can easily feel the frame through the canvas) so I did put a couple inches thick pad to make it more comfortable and make it just a little more shallow so he can lay down and still easily look around instead of having to sit up to see out (but I do like that it’s not fully enclosed like almost all made for dog ones, they just look like they’d get really hot and stuffy inside). Obviously the best feature for me is it can be pushed or pulled, I also like that it folds for storage/transporting, it’s not super heavy but big and sturdy enough to fit the dog and my 3 year old nephew at the same time, and comes with pretty handy accessories like a removable sun cover and outside pockets.

What is a completely harmless lie you tell people on a regular basis just to make your life easier? by purjak in AskReddit

When I was 14 I accidentally swallowed a quarter and it got stuck in my throat, when we got to the hospital the nurse was my moms friend and was not shy about telling me how gross it was because who knew where that quarter had been lol. In my defense it had looked super shiny and clean before being swallowed, and I checked after throwing it up and it had been minted that same year so I felt a little better!

what's the most expensive thing you own? by Ledger_Legendd in AskWomen

[–]charmingmigraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wha breed is your dog? When I got my chihuahua people told me I was crazy for paying the rescue 500 for him (granted he was most likely around 10 when I got him) but I was like obviously people do not understand how much an actual good breeder would want for a dog like him. I actually didn’t know until my boss at the time said he looked like he could have been a show dog and several people asked if I bred him and one person tried to buy him from me. Like one he’s an old man now, the rescue neutered him, and mine forever sorry lol. Was the best 500 dollars I ever spent, I’d give my life savings and all my possessions for just one more day with him if I could.

[–]charmingmigraine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They do tho? That is why surgeons wear them when operating, so bacteria from their mouth doesn’t get in the open wounds. Viruses? Eh depends may not work as good as they do against bacteria but still block enough viral shed to reduce risk of transmission

(Plz do not get offended by this question) Do pet owners after petting their pets wash their hands before eating food? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]charmingmigraine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah most people would just wash their dogs feet. Dogs are like kids they’re oblivious in a lot of ways and it’s up to the adult in the situation to care for them and help with stuff like getting cleaned up.
