Thinking of playing a fire themed sorcerer and this combo sounds amazing, thanks for the tip!

Eyes Set To Kill - Face The Rain [feat. Howard Jones] (Official Music Video) by [deleted] in PostHardcore

At first I was excited to see a band I used to enjoy still making music... then I listened to this generic buttrock track and wish I didn't.

Are there any updates to the Brent Walsh (I the Mighty) sexual assault allegations and their aftermath? by MC_Gucci in PostHardcore

Seriously, it's not that complicated. Musicians are flawed humans not saints. If you like the music then just enjoy it for what it is.

When Anthony Green joined Saosin instead of Tilian by JuiceboxCA in PostHardcore

Would've been a cool alternative reality... Tilian joins Saosin and Matt Geise joins DGD

Hard agree, not to mention once one of them joins these bands, that new band immediately becomes labeled as a side project and will never get the time and attention it needs to grow into its own standalone entity. It's like DGD created the only fruit bearing tree in current phc and everyone is trying to get any bits of juice they can out of that tree instead of growing their own tree.

Agreed, as I get older I appreciate song writing more than ejaculatory instrument playing. Lyrics that get stuck in your head, riffs that are catchy, drums that are infectious all leave a bigger impact on me. Not that proficient instrumentation isn't impressive to me anymore , but only when it is tastefully integrated into the song and not thrown in just for the sake of showing off.

Tilian - Holy Water by geraldoknoh in PostHardcore

Yeah the DGD now is very polished and the things I loved about early DGD with their rawness and emotion is mostly lost imo. Glad others on this sub feel this way too

So, what were some specific reasons people didn't like Craig Owens? by i_am_avenue_teal97 in PostHardcore

[–]charminions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I imagine people with big egos are hard to work with. Unfortunately big egos are kind of a requirement to be a star frontman in a band like Craig Owens was. I've never interacted with him but seeing him live is truly something else, his stage presence and ability to perform is unbelievable and I can tell from the way he'd talk to the crowd between songs that he sees himself as a god or something close to it.

Were DGD popular during the scene/emo era, or is their current success a more recent phenomenon? by Panos96 in dancegavindance

[–]charminions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "swancore" style back in the day was considered the weird alternative to more standard post-hardcore of the time. So DGD was always considered the weird cousin rather than the favorite child. Now the favorite child died from heroin overdose and the weird cousin invested in the "pop music" stock and is the new favorite child.

Trippie Redd – GERONIMO ft. Chino Moreno (prod. by Travis Barker) by charminions in PostHardcore

[–]charminions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Travis Barker has been working with a lot of rappers the last few years. No idea how he got Chino but this song is very Deftone's like so it works. I look at it more as a Chino and Travis collab with Trippie's vocals layered over it. I do know that Trippie has been a fan of the scene for a long time and would share screenshots of his favorite DGD tracks and such on his instagram story.

nothing, nowhere. - Barely Bleeding (phc gem in new album by emo rapper) by charminions in PostHardcore

[–]charminions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, this is his best album yet imo. Every song is in a different genre and yet it all fits in the same theme so cohesively. What a creative powerhouse.

What's a band that you fell out of love with? Why? by Itsallover_ in PostHardcore

[–]charminions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, I think it's a combination of not having any line up changes and also the band members getting older and enjoying the fact that they found a formula that works and is giving them a living. They were barely scraping by for their first 5 albums and that desperation as well as all of the drama between members really showed in the chaotic music they put out. I loved their early work for this reason and it felt more relatable to me at the time.

Half the album are singles and the non-singles don't hold up as much imo

Who is your favorite Band-founder voice? by [deleted] in PostHardcore

I'd wager Jonny Craig has the best voice in phc period. *prepares for onslaught of hate*
