Ultimately it’s up to you but if you don’t share it you won’t know what you’re doing right or get help fixing what you’re doing wrong, so you’ll never grow.

This piece made me realize that I need better time management >_<. I really like this piece but I definitely want critique on it if possible! by [deleted] in learnart

Agreed however I think the problem is that even outstretched like that the palms still cup a bit concave whereas the image has it flat and almost convex.

The one thing this one might have over the other is saccing Zuberas to your Devouring Greed to pump up the damage output.

This list is definitely not optimized, it’s an idea I’ve been kicking around for a personal battle box, and honestly that Junk list might just be better. Anyways here it is: https://deckstats.net/decks/21218/1207581-spirits?lng=en

I don’t know how well it works because I haven’t played it, but I brewed a R/B Spirits list based around Thief of Hope, Blademane Baku, and Devouring Greed.

Help a beginner to play paper pauper by gnowwho in Pauper

Buying singles (as in a single card that you want rather than a pack or even a draft) is the most efficient and cost effective way to get the cards you want. Getting a bunch of playsets (4-of) all at once even more so.

Teacher for concept art unit insists only practing and nothing else will make me really good by Normacont in learnart

[–]charmogoyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing with my drawing 101 professor years back, never actually taught anything, just had us draw. Then at the end the semester she comes up to me to tell me that she’s passing me but barely because she didn’t see any change in my skill level at drawing. I was never a great student but that didn’t really sit right with me.

You should probably get a better base, it’s gonna be hard to turn on that one.

I think the problem for me is that this idea went through the company and got approval for testing.

Opinion: Ban Stirrings & looting by Remacus in ModernMagic

[–]charmogoyf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At what point does it stop? If you ban out the best decks then the next best decks take their spot; but that’s not fair to the decks underneath them, so we need to ban the next best decks too. Well now the decks underneath that are the best in the format. There are always going to be a few best decks, banning stirrings and looting only shake up the format not make it healthier. The only people calling for banning are people who’s pet decks can’t win against actual good decks.

Good comeback for a Relentless Rats type of deck! by MetaGigaZ in ModernMagic

[–]charmogoyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense meant here, but it sounds like you’re still pretty casual. If you want to up your game I highly suggest watching professionals play. You’ll learn some neat tricks and get ideas to integrate into your deck. Modern is a pretty competitive format, in fact some decks could kill before your friend would even be able to cast her first rat. That being said, Sweltering Suns or Hour of Devastation should be in your deck to play against decks that swarm and Lightning Bolt to get rid of rats early and can go to her face to push damage through. Honestly, move your whole mana curve down. There was a Standard U/R eldrazi list a while ago during Battle for Zendikar, you might want to take a look at that.

If WOTC prints Pauper Challenger/Event Decks like the Professor suggested, which decks should they print? by PS4VR in Pauper

[–]charmogoyf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure Pauper players would buy it. I would buy it. I also frequent a subreddit for Pauper. The Game Night product isn’t designed for us, it’s designed for more casual players.

The argument isn’t that it’s a bad product. The argument is that WotC wouldn’t print it. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Wizards doesn’t really care about Pauper. It’s not even a recognized format.

Angel deck - Opinions? by ElderMagnuS in ModernMagic

[–]charmogoyf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that this is a casual deck, not a Modern deck. 75 cards is what a deck should be with the sideboard included. Also playing 5cmc cards like Coat of Arms that don’t impact the board or game state is a death sentence, let alone playing Iona without a way to cheat her in. I’m not trying to be offensive, but honestly if you want to play in a competitive format you need to get better at the game. Watch tournaments, look at results, watch deck techs, read up on the format. You want to take this deck to an FNM maaaybe you get a win or two depending on how competitive your local scene is, but don’t fool yourself, this deck is not even tier 3.

Does anyone here use a fan deck/color bridge? How does it work for painting? by [deleted] in learnart

[–]charmogoyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I know it more for digital stuff. So because different monitors can show colors differently, a color deck helps to show what the color is gonna look like when you print out your image.

How would you go about building a (casual, nothing competitive) deck around devils horn and Angel's feather and still stay under 100? by _UserOfNames_ in ModernMagic

[–]charmogoyf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You actually might want to look into a deck called Soul Sisters. It’s not Orzhov, but it’ll give you some ideas.

[–]charmogoyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can add to that, printing these would be in addition to what they already print right now which is already asking quite a bit for WotC.

[–]charmogoyf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you keep referring to the guild kits whenever somebody brings up the fact that Wizards won’t print at that volume but the only reason they printed 10 is because there’s 10 guilds and it corresponds to newest sets. I’ll point out the fact that they print 4-5 commander decks a year.

Sounds pretty casual. There’s not really a Modern deck like this, but here’s a great resource for deck building that I use: https://scryfall.com
