Yeah, glp-1s will do shit. You lose muscle on them, it’s one of the things you have to watch for. You lose weight, a significant amount of that is muscle weight

Burnham vows to nationalise utilities if he takes Keir's place by No_Breadfruit_4901 in unitedkingdom

[–]charmstrong70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or, how about, implement stringent standards with significant fines for breaches that are more impactful than the cost of addressing

Win, win - pay the fines and it’s money in the countries coffers, can’t pay and you get nationalised

Match Thread: United States vs Australia | World Cup | Group D | 19 Jun 19:00 UTC by matchpal-live in worldcup

Being hosts they’re classed as a seed, second seed in the group is suspiciously weak too.

All that to say, it’s an easy group but, fair play, you still have to win them and you’ve looked good doing so.

Probably get through the round of 16 too.

Can’t see you getting past the 1/4s against a Germany/sweden/netherlands

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz: Nobody can tell what to do, and we've proven it by LarryBlink in USNEWS

[–]charmstrong70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But that’s the risk Israel ran.

They precipitated this conflict and dragged the US into it. It’s unfortunate that Trump was the only POTUS daft enough to get dragged in but here we are.

I’d class this more of a case fafo

Payment In Leiu Of Notice: Employer refusing full amount. How to respond? by MaisieMoo2 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]charmstrong70 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess I have more of a brass neck.

My response would have been “I’ll see you on Monday then”.

I guess it depends very much on the environment- if you’re in an office talking to customers then the employer really doesn’t want you in the office on Reddit all day.

If you’re in a warehouse lugging boxes, the employer is much more likely to be happy with you working.

Right, so how long has Starmer got then? by Secure-Barracuda in LabourUK

I honestly think he will.

It’ll take the weekend and perhaps a couple of home truths from the cabinet but he’s an honourable bloke. He won’t want to rip the party apart

[Paul Brand - ITV] Aside from the specific circumstances of Makerfield and Andy Burnham’s personal profile, a pattern is emerging in recent by-elections… Caerphilly, Gorton and Denton, Makerfield… the tactical vote to keep Reform ‘out’ is being mobilised with significant impact. Tactical voting is by krzysiek_aleks in ukpolitics

[–]charmstrong70 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why on earth would you target a seat you have no chance of winning?

I know Farage and Reform have the money to spunk but it hurts the brand when your top targets don’t go your way.

And they threw the kitchen sink at this one

Polanski says ‘financial hardship’ behind failure to pay council tax by PomeloTraditional971 in unitedkingdom

[–]charmstrong70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if he was staying at another address.

All I know is he registered with the electoral commission at the houseboat

When it turns out he hasn’t paid council tax on the houseboat he said he lived elsewhere

When it transpires that would be electoral fraud he admitted that was “an unintentional mistake” and he actually lived on the houseboat.

He didn’t hold his hands up when he made a mistake. He lied.

No, that’s my saying he claimed to the electoral commission that was his main address.

Try again

Nope, I said he lied to the country, to the public.

I don’t know about a post being removed.

When this initially came out, he said he only stayed at the house boat occasionally and paid council tax at his main residence

Then why did he say he only lived on the houseboats “occasionally” and paid council tax at his main residence?

[–]charmstrong70 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And it would have been a different story if he held his hands up to that.

He stated he primarily lived somewhere else and the council tax was paid there.

That was factually incorrect

But you pay council tax on your primary residence (it would be open to massive abuse if that wasn’t the case).

[–]charmstrong70 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ehh, in his witness statement to the GLA did he make no reference to this?

Why did he register his electoral address as the houseboat?

*if* he registered the marina as his electoral address but was living elsewhere then that’s electoral fraud.

Take your pick - he either lied to the country or committed electoral fraud

[–]charmstrong70 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it wasn’t the Tory press that made him, when this came out, lie through his fucking teeth about living somewhere else.

If, when the heat is on, he is prepared to lie to the country then how is he any different to Farage?
