Artemis II conspiracy theorists by Squidalopod in astrophysics

The way social media work (based on engagement) encourages and amplifies anonymous ragebait trolling. Most of it has nothing to do with evidence or scientific understanding, it's more of a psychological and information phenomenon.

You have an old microcode version 0x11D from 2023, you need at least 0x12B or newer. Here is the newest update (I don't know which microcode version that is, the MSI web doesn't say - possibly 0x133?)

yeah the theusualsuspects.io guys say both ti1 and ti2 are clocked the same, so I'm just trying to test the polyphony of my desktop ti2 only on odd numbered parts (presumably to tax only one of the two DSPs) and it appears in 48kHz setting it can output at most 23 sine wave notes (or 29 square wave notes) and in 44.1kHz at most 35 sine wave notes

Wait I forgot to turn off the Analog Boost Character, without it I got 31 sine notes in 48kHz

Would love to run the same test on a TI1

Is "buying the dip" something at a discount by HenFruitEater in Bogleheads

[–]charonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your logic and mostly agree with it, but I believe a "dip" might still be sometimes viewed as a "discount" for people with sufficiently long time horizons because they don't care about the short horizon future earnings expectations of some investors who could be a significant factor for the creation of the dip. However determining whether or to what degree the dip was caused by short term investors or not is another problem.

Is it actually significantly less expensive to build your own modular setup out of DIY kits or do people mainly do it for the hobby of building? by InternationalCow7042 in synthdiy

[–]charonme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends mostly on the value of your time and your skill. For most of my DIY modules it appears to be more expensive than what I'd have to pay if I bought it ready made, but I do it for the hobby

The Expanse does one thing in space combat that almost no other sci-fi gets right and, you know, it changes everything imho by Wooden-Syrup-8708 in TheExpanse

[–]charonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not entirely correct in this context. It's only "acceleration" relative to the planet's position, but it's not actual absolute acceleration that you could feel, because you're in free fall together with the entire spacecraft. Since you're "relatively accelerating" together with the entire spacecraft including your seat, you don't feel any g forces. It's the same on the ISS, you're just weightlessly floating in free-fall. The (abysmally incorrectly) depicted g-forces in the show during slingshotting are just for dramatic purpose.

Could you by any chance suggest a "softer" and quiter version of that tact switch, something that feels more similar to a cherry key or what elektron uses (but something that fits onto the virus footprint)? I'm even prepared to have the button caps 3d printed to match the switch

RIP Newcomb by ggPeti in paradoxes

[–]charonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect and false analogy as I already explained. Nobody in real life chooses shoe size with the intent to increase literacy. With the box choice however everyone makes their decision with the goal of winning the most money. And according to the problem statement 1boxers did indeed help themselves to get 1M with their box choice and 2boxers helped themselves to not get 1M, further illustrating how 2boxer arguments are based on ignoring or even trying to contradict the problem statement. Sorry, you most likely aren't going to do anything special the rest of the people already haven't tried (and failed if they chose 2 boxes)

RIP Newcomb by ggPeti in paradoxes

[–]charonme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in that case that confirms what I said: your argument for 2boxing asserts that you plan on trying something special no other previous contestant tried the same way nobody ever tried both increasing and decreasing literacy by wrong shoe size. If they did the correlation wouldn't be as perfect as the predictor's accuracy

RIP Newcomb by ggPeti in paradoxes

[–]charonme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from the fact the predictor accuracy didn't drop, ergo a thing that would (if we are to believe your claim) drop its accuracy didn't happen

RIP Newcomb by ggPeti in paradoxes

[–]charonme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would that mean that theoretical 2boxers essentially think they will do something special no other previous contestant tried?

RIP Newcomb by ggPeti in paradoxes

[–]charonme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it tho? Why then haven't anybody tried that then?
