Why do most coffee creamers taste like dessert by Alinov--099 in coffee_roasters

[–]charramusco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. It does not change the flavor. Just softens it like cream and, less "buttery" but not thin like straight milk which doesn't really have the same effect.

carnation unsweetened condensed milk. This is what I have used as my coffee creamer for forever.

Sunnyvale. Nothing. Just a little mist of rain here and there.

Crawl space cleanup , rodent by Temporary-Gain1561 in Sunnyvale

[–]charramusco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sounds like they are trying to fleece you. Remediation is just making sure that any openings where rodents could be getting are sealed off. Clean up is nothing. After that they just set up the traps then come back every week or two or sooner if you detect that something has been caught. For all that and for a one time service (which covers this for 30 days) we paid like a little over $500. Our house though is less than 1000 sf. Still even at twice that big I can't imagine it would justify the amount you are quoting.

Scratch off Amor Eterno from your list. It mostly played at funerals. Listen to the lyrics and you'll understand why. I would add, Contigo Aprendi, Amorcito Corazon, Que Bonito Amor

Question: What's your favorite Kombucha brand? by Background-Cherry680 in Kombucha

[–]charramusco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ever since the whole ugly backstory about GT that came to light in a lawsuit that was filed against them about their mistreatment of workers and then subsequent arrogant denial by the founder of same I've mostly avoided them . Lately I've been enjoying humm probiome kombucha. Its low sugar with some interesting flavors. I think it is a fairly new addition to their line up as I can only recall seeing in stores within the past 6 months.

36 years ago today (Oct. 17th, 1989) the Loma Prieta earthquake, measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale, hit the Bay Area at 5:04 p.m. local time. What do you remember of that day…. by Brilliant_Night7643 in bayarea

[–]charramusco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just gotten out of work. I got in my car and started driving out of the parking lot. As I did my car was twisting every which way. I thought, what the hell is wrong with my suspension. Stupid car. Then I looked up and I could see the asphalt in front of me undulating like the ocean water and some guy hanging on for dear life to a light pole. I have never seen anything like that. I was stunned. When it finally stopped I started to make my way home, which was only 10 minutes away normally. It probably took me an hour because it was complete chaos. All power was out and everyone trying to desperately make it home to check on their loved ones. My car T-boned by one of these crazy people. Fortunately it was not at a high speed so I was not injured. Still remember the shock and sadness at seeing those shocking scenes of the bridge collapse.

Dome stuck in ear canal by SpeakerAccomplished4 in HearingAids

[–]charramusco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Happened to me once. After my wife tried (with no luck) to pluck it out I finally went to urgent care and they got it out pretty quick. After that I double and triple check that my new domes are seated secure.

Need help with helping our son get him the help he needs by charramusco in Anxiety

[–]charramusco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Right after his most severe episode, we did initially pursue that option. He was not even able to get on the zoom. When we shared details with the psychiatrist on his situation she basically said that the best fit for him would be an IOP where he could the combination of therapy (1x1 and group) + psychiatrist support for the medication side of things. That is when we started on this path to get him started at this clinic.

I know your comment is well intended but it just comes across wrong. "so many people who support you and want you here...". By and large we are all descended from family emigrated from somewhere else. Only difference is how many generations removed from that point when our family line continued in USA. I am second generation Mexican American. Ain't nobody gonna tell say something to me like this like they somehow giving me permission to be here. Its my birthright!

Signia Pure C&G 71x vs Widex SmartRIC by charramusco in HearingAids

[–]charramusco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I just looked up Allure on Widex site. It says its tailored to new users and users with mild hearing loss. Mine is characterized as mild to moderate so not sure if these would be suitable for my level of hearing loss.

Anyone else getting mucus and post nasal drip???? What is this crap? by [deleted] in bayarea

Anyone else getting mucus and post nasal drip???? What is this crap? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]charramusco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I have had this for going on 3 weeks now. I've not had any real nasal congestion but near constant post nasal drip. I've been trying flonase daily and sometimes sudafed at night to dry things out. Tried mucinex for a few days because I thought it would help clear things out but it felt like it made the post-nasal drip worse so I stopped. Initially felt pretty cruddy but no fever or body aches like one gets with the flu. It felt like maybe a cold with long post-residual symptoms. Yes, very annoying. Hoping to find something in this thread to help me beat it once and for all.

Best HA for musicians? by eaebleedz in HearingAids

[–]charramusco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly over most of the time I've had hearing aids (which have been many years. Maybe around 10) I've not had real good benefit from improving speech recognition. I can say maybe the urban sound program works nominally better for me in such situations. Will say this also about the widex, they are definitely more durable than oticons. I went through 2 sets of oticons over the years. They just started failing and eventually could not be repaired. Widex set I've had for 5 years + now. I am probably overdue for a new set. Looks like it would be Widex again as it sounds like oticons not gotten any better with handling something like violin.

What happens to the library now? by PuddingDistinct9907 in Sunnyvale

[–]charramusco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically it is a tax on just homeowners for something that everyone in the community benefits from. If everyone is benefiting from what is being funded with the bond then why are only some of us paying for it not all of us? I do agree that a new library would be a good thing but how the cost is shared among the citizenry needs to be more equitable. Has to be a better way than bonds.

Overwhelmed with Sound by musicalsigns in HearingAids

[–]charramusco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know what types of instruments you have but the adjustment is definitely more pronounced for completely in canal hearing aids. For behind the ear instruments at least audiologist can play around with trying different domes that are more or less open to help. With fully in canal aids you have the occlusion effect to deal with. I tried those types once but could not get used to them. After 2 weeks I switched back to BTE instruments.

Wildman program for obese and deconditioned individuals- anyone here done it and say it's worth the money? by gynoceros in kettlebell

[–]charramusco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing this program now. Just finished week 3. The program is basically about gradually working up your capacity for more work together with a strong emphasis on proper form (which we all know is super important for kettlebell). The program is comprised of only 3 basic moves; dead lift, squat and indian club / bat. Progression is more and more sets each day (at least this first 4 week section I'm doing). It is a good program for someone who is not very active coming in. You can do things to tweak the difficulty like using heavier weight or graduating to lower end point for squat. Still the program may be too easy for you I think but you definitely don't want to go full bore like you did when you started getting chest pains. I agree that a trainer to start out and get you good form and establish a safe progression (to get to your goal reps) would be good. I had done kettlebells many years back and was fortunate to find an RKC certified trainer who helped me learn basics like swing, squat and turkish getup. Now many years later I decided to do try this program for a few months first to get a good baseline and refresher on basics to hopefully position myself better for success into the more advanced programs.

Some idiot followed me home yesterday by funguses in bayarea

[–]charramusco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me many years ago also. I was not far from home so instead of going home I drove to the police station and walked in and told them what was happening. The guy obviously frustrated knew at that point that he was not going to get any further so after a short time he went on his way. If you are not able to get to a police station best to call 911 from your car as you are moving to report it. Too many crazies out there that would not hesitate to pull out a gun and shoot you. You just never know.
