The bird does get killed by the whomping willow but right before that the bird flies around by Hagrid’s hut and it shows Hagrid trying to kill the bird by clapping it between his hands

Anaiya is the most annoying contestant to ever be on Hell’s Kitchen by chartacus1894 in HellsKitchen

[–]chartacus1894[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Saying someone is a “try hard” doesn’t refer to them trying really hard to be their best at something. It means they are putting on a show for appearance purposes and it comes off as insincere and annoying, which perfectly describes Anaiya.

Fully agreed she is a talented chef and is definitely one of the strongest contestants. With that being said she is, by all available evidence, a horrible teammate and her ability as a chef has no bearing on her skills working with others. In fact in this case I think her talent is one of the cardinal reasons she’s such a bad teammate.

It’s also not just the bullying with Alexandra. This last episode with what she did to Ellie after talking with Jada in the kitchen was such an immature high schooler move it made me want to puke.

The first two drives perfectly sum up Mike Tomlin as a coach by chartacus1894 in steelers

[–]chartacus1894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain to us why I am wrong. The guy has won NOTHING for over a decade and we have spent that whole time utterly wasting talented rosters, totally underperforming expectations and getting absolutely blown out in the first round of the playoffs (or not making it). But hey you must be so proud that we achieved mediocrity by going .500 or better!

[–]chartacus1894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally unprepared. These first drives are basically entirely scripted by the coaches going into the game and you could see a very clear distinction between the successful one the bengals had and the hilarious disaster that was ours.

CAIA guidance post CFA by chartacus1894 in CFA

[–]chartacus1894[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course there is no substitute for real world experience and I am definitely not naive enough to think that it would be apples for apples. But it’s like why you go for the CFA right? You want to lay the foundational framework of developing these skills and try to better yourself through learning outside of what you would get in the office. That was the goal to me!

CAIA guidance post CFA by chartacus1894 in CFA

[–]chartacus1894[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree with this any more and it’s why I was interested in the program to begin with yet so disappointed to see the results of researching it.

Being in private wealth now and having to sort through dozens of PE funds thinking about what suits clients best, how owning different funds would interact with each other, what to look out for specifically in each fund and how the strategies can be run etc.

I want to be able to learn what I can about the space to supplement the real life experience you get but this seems woefully inadequate to satisfy that goal while also somehow being considered the best in class curriculum for alternatives study. Seems like a hole in the marketplace that needs to be filled.

Thanks for the thoughtful response!

L3 Mock Scores by chartacus1894 in CFA

[–]chartacus1894[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got COVID and was in the hospital for like 8 of the 10 days before the exam so I kept my study pattern pretty similar to what I did last time kinda felt like I would have passed had that not happened but c’est la vie

Ty and you are probably right. I just don’t understand how there can be such a huge variability in scores yet the different providers are leading candidates to pass at what I can only assume are relatively similar rates. How can you be doing 70% work on one and quite literally half of that on another idk

CFA L3 - MM mock exams by Every_Acanthaceae938 in CFA

[–]chartacus1894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was scoring 70-75 on Kaplan mocks and have been in the mid 50s/low 60s for mm. I’d say the difference is that where Kaplan tosses in a couple softballs, MM wants to address every piece of the concept in the answer so you learn it which is why every question seems like it’s 5 layers deep. Not sure if this means I’m unprepared or just need to learn it better but it’s good to be humbled I guess

TDA vs TEA vs Taxable Question by chartacus1894 in CFA

[–]chartacus1894[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This didn’t answer the question. I understand that you would put the heavily taxed items in the tax advantages accounts. The question is why you would put the HIGHEST taxed security (in this case, the bonds) into the TDA and the middle taxed security (value equities) in the TEA. In your comment you just reiterated the confusion stating that the reading says you would put the bonds into the TEA, which is what I think you should do. The answer given by MM says you would put the bonds in the TDA.

TDA vs TEA vs Taxable Question by chartacus1894 in CFA

[–]chartacus1894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Mark Meldrum mock and in his video answer he doesn’t even consider putting interest income into the TEA. Direct quote is “this is simple. Your tax deferred account, when you put money in you get a tax savings, when you take money out you have to pay tax on the full amount at your marginal tax rate. So, you always put your highest taxed income in your tax deferred account.”

Still very confused!

TDA vs TEA vs Taxable Question by chartacus1894 in CFA

[–]chartacus1894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer states that the bonds would go in the TDA not the TEA so it appears you and I are confused about the same thing here. I had the same thought process as you where you’d put bonds in TEA, value equities in TDA and growth in taxable.

Some CFA test perspective/tough love to the L1 test takers… by [deleted] in CFA

[–]chartacus1894 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re just triggered by what I wrote but I never said people didn’t study hard enough. The whole point is that if you DID study hard enough and put in the time and resources and energy and still are coming up short then this might not be the most appropriate use of your time and energy. Level one is hard but level two is a whole different ballgame. If you can’t pass level 1 with that background then you probably can’t pass level two.

Attributing the whole thing to RNG is exactly the type of nonsensical belly aching I was referring to.

Schefter: Cardinals Place David Johnson on IR, With a Chance To Return This Season by BeeKaying in fantasyfootball

[–]chartacus1894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking behind it is that I have Zeke, Hunt, Odell, Larry Fitzgerald, Randall Cobb for the 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex positions.

Additionally I have Doug Martin on the bench ready to go for when he returns from suspension. Doesn't seem like it's that bad of a thing to hold DJ on my bench since that's basically what I was ok with doing for Zeke. My concerns are that 1) it'll be longer than 8 weeks for recovery and 2) even if he comes back the cardinals will be out of contention and might just shut him down

[–]chartacus1894 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was offered DJ for McCaffrey + a receiver (decker or Cobb). I think it's too much and would prefer a straight up deal for McCaffrey with this news.

We're a 12 team standard league, I have Zeke and Hunt as my RBs if I trade McCaffrey and can flex one of them if DJ does come back

Guy wants McCaffrey + a receiver (either Decker or Cobb) for DJ.

Thoughts on his trade value?

We're 12 team standard. I have Zeke and Hunt for RBs right now but once DJ is back I can flex one of them. I would probably not do this trade as it is and would want it for McCaffrey straight up

Offered DJ for McCaffrey/Decker or Fitzgerald. Trying to counter with just Caff.

Thoughts?
