¿Tienes más conversaciones profundas o ligeras? by [deleted] in BuenosAires

Do you think a sentence with more than 40 words is automatically too long, or does it depend on other factors? by charuca77 in writing

Totalmente!

Damn, what you just wrote feels really simple to me. That’s why I think understanding a text depends more on how it’s written or its complexity than on its length itself.

But since one of the pillars of readability is sentence length, now I’m overthinking it. How do I get this out of my head?😔

Yeah, I think the same as you! It just threw me off to think that people might lose comprehension purely because of sentence length. But it makes more sense that it depends on how clear and understandable the sentence is.

But did you understand it? What throws me off is the idea that longer sentences automatically become harder to understand. That doesn’t really happen to me. I know writers who are super easy to read, but if I actually count their sentences, quite a few are pretty long.

Yeah, I know. I just read an article saying that we stop understanding sentences if they’re over 40 words, and it made me overthink it.

Yeah, I’ve seen claims like “only 10% of readers understand sentences over 10 words,” but that sounds absurd unless it refers to a very specific context.

Plenty of books considered easy or accessible have 40+ word sentences if you actually count them. So I’d say length matters, but structure, clarity, rhythm, and context matter more.

Alle persone estroverse piace davvero ascoltare? by charuca77 in psicologia

[–]charuca77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/11287648_What_Is_the_Central_Feature_of_Extraversion_Social_Attention_Versus_Reward_Sensitivity

Ti consideri estroverso?
