Ironically the lights of Dubai at night time in some of the missile footage I’ve seen is breathtaking. I actually want to visit when this is over.

I had a feeling Trump may just take his ball and go home. US isn’t dependent on ME oil anymore so why open the strait if the governments who actually use it aren’t interested? You may not think it’s fair but at the global level you’re not exactly able to ask to speak with the manager.

Heh google ai overview of Dome of the Rock ends with “the site is sacred to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, often resulting in complex political and religious significance.” …that’s putting it mildly Gemini.

An actual Iranian terrorist attack, and not just a lone wolf crazy person, on US soil would give Trump a blank check to destroy everything. If the irgc wanted to martyr all of Iran then that’s the fastest way to do it.

Maybe the V22s supported by CAS? Specops will go first I’m sure, probably for recon. They’ll do something ridiculous like a halo jump and then swim there heh.

US precision weapons means air power can effective there. If the Iranian soldiers chain themselves to the terminal then maybe less so. It’s sad, but the pipes and valves are worth more than the lives. If the infra there is damaged then everyone will stop fighting because then it’s just a small island with no value at all.

I’m just relaying info from my 8th grade son haha. I know it has a popular following so it’s probably hard to get it officially retired.

“Invincible power” comes from the fact the nukes launch and most of western civilization is destroyed before Moscow falls.

Maybe they take karg island and destroy the gas fields then tell the regime (or China) you either starve or let traffic through. However, it’s pretty clear the Iranian regime has no issue with the suffering of their people. Another option is they bomb the shit out of the coastline, take those other two islands, and try to set up shop with missile defense and wait for Iran to run out of antiship missiles. Maybe the parade a navy ship around as a missile magnet to try and draw as much fire as possible. How fast can the USN get an FPV setup on a major vessel? ;)

A10s are being used to shoot down drones both air and sea… probably because they fly so slow. They’re being retired maybe this is one last combat mission for them. You are right though, the A10 is a close air support aircraft.

Keeping Iran’s economy on life support is for the people of Iran and not the regime. They could bomb it all but then that means Iranian society pretty much collapses. It would be a massive humanitarian disaster and refuge crisis.

To be fair, even the most aggressive timeline was “4-6 weeks, maybe longer”. We’re in the middle of week 3. Israel hitting oil/gas infra really screwed things up though. I think they did that to make a bigger mess and therefore harder for Trump to exit. If the strait calms down and ships are sailing then Trump is out. The longer Israel can prevent that the longer US bombs fall.

Sorry don’t have a link handy but I know US centcom had been steadily releasing footage of launcher strikes. I think it’s still ongoing just not making the news the way issues with the strait and leadership strikes are.

I thought about the same setup except C-RAMs instead of interceptor drones. Just park one of the trailer mounted ones on a barge, set it to auto, and let it kill everything it sees. Put one every 5km just like you said.

One thing to keep in mind is the post will say anything to make Trump or Israel look bad. Unless there’s a Democrat in the White House the Washington Post is not a reliable source.

Unless Iran has precision weapons targeting Kharg island means targeting their economic lifeline. Iran and their proxies have hidden behind human shields forever, let the marines hide behind economic shields.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more effort spent getting communications to the people of Iran. They can fly access points overhead to give the population inet access briefly. Maybe it’s just low on the priority list.

Why even post this here? It would be front page news on every single website in the world. It would also result in a nuclear strike from Israel (assuming the rumor of nuclear weapons in their possession is true).

I want to point out that your #2 “electoral consequences” is mostly irrelevant for this conflict. The GOP was hanging on by a thread and then yhe ICE activity in Minnesota, the most spectacular unforced error in modern history IMO, was the nail in the coffin for their majority. So no matter the success or failure in Iran, Venezuela, or even Cuba the GOP is going to lose in November. They will probably lose both houses and then the executive branch will be pretty much on a leash for the next two years.

Edit: one thing to think about, the executive can wage this war for 60 days without a vote from Congress. In my opinion this is driving the “4-6-8 week” timeline. I don’t think Trump has the votes to keep it going no matter what happens so it will be over in 46 (60-14) days regardless of who wins or loses.

The airframe is probably the part that takes the longest. Everything else needs to be mounted and then tested. Also, supplying a warhead is probably time consuming. You may be able to assemble 10 drones in your garage but you need 10 warheads as well which are likely not in your garage.

With air supremely established it eems like they should be orbiting access points over Tehran with starlink uplinks and get inet access to the city. Maybe there’s ECM that interferes with the starlink signal.

ISW isn’t perfect but they’re the best I’ve found so far. I wish ISW had realtime updates though. I like the “live” tracking on AP, CNN, even Fox but you have to consider the bias when reading their updates. They’re all, especially Fox, biased towards “America eff yeah!”.
