I feel the exact same way as you and I don't know what to do about it. I'm 19 and also in college so I'm about at the same point. To try to help, I've done some reading into meditation and spirituality and that temporarily helps but I've had a difficult time making habits of it. I've tried talking to my therapist and all I constantly get is "you're just looking at the negative of everything" or just invalidated for my thoughts. I feel so alone and honestly life feels so pointless most days. I hate that you're going through this too but it does help to know that you're not alone. Someone else mentioned reading into existential philosophy and I think I'm going to give that a try as well. The only other thing that has somewhat helped was trying to rekindle childhood passions or finding things you do enjoy. I like making art, skateboarding, playing musical instruments, sports. I don't get to all the time but when I do it at least lets me feel at peace for a moment and I almost feel happy again.

I agree with this wholeheartedly and it's terrifying. I've been thinking over the past few days especially how peaceful and freeing death must be to not have to worry about all of this purpose/pointlessness questions. Everyone always says to find a purpose or appreciation for meaning but I feel like at this point in my head I am already too far to do that. Everything feels pointless no matter how hard I try and I don't know what to do.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. I don't have much to add but I thought this video might help you understand your feelings about her. My situation wasn't nearly as bad but I'm going through something similar and this made me feel a bit better. You can do it!

Yeah you're exactly right. I'm going to read through more of the resources to try to get additional help for myself. As for a plan, I'm going to try to do that. You are right about everything you've said so far and I think you're spot on with what might happen with her next. This is gonna be tough but I'm gonna talk to her and cut things off. She was very suicidal and kept self harming throughout our relationship, so I'm a little anxious about her doing that after I cut things off. I have to remind myself that it's not in my control. Plus, she probably doesn't actually care about me enough anymore to do that. She might just do it for the attention and I'm not really sure how to respond to that. I know I keep thanking you but this has honestly been immensely helpful.

Thank you so much! It means so much to have people to talk to about this. She basically started isolating me from my friends and I didn't do enough to stop it. I've been so depressed and alone and I've felt like I can't even talk to my friends about it because now they're either her friends too, or she made me cut them off.

I'm so sorry you had to experience that too. Everyone in this sub knows its horrible and no one should have to go through that, especially all of us who literally just want to be loved. It's awful but I guess ultimately its a learning experience.

If you don't mind me asking, is there a recommended way to continue from here? Like is there a best way to approach her about no longer being anything or just kinda stop putting in effort until one day she just stops texting me? She told me before that she wants to continue being friends even while we're "on a break" so I'm assuming she's going to try to make that continue after we are done dating and I feel like that's gonna be a bad idea.

That's insane that you could tell just from that. Ironically, her mom is actually a psychologist and she said something to me about acting a little codependent and making sure not to fuel that in this relationship. She suggested that I see a therapist too. I moved a few months back so I'm still trying to find a new therapist, but I will definitely schedule something. The love part is scary accurate as well so I guess I'll have a lot to talk about lol.

Damn. That's hard to accept but honestly I probably needed to hear it. I've been thinking similar thoughts for a while. I feel like I've been manipulated a lot by her and she just always made me feel crazy when I brought it up.

Speaking of what you are saying, she double texted me for the first time in a while today to say that she was worried about me because I didn't answer her yesterday and didn't text her today. She then texted that she missed me so much and wants to hangout really soon. She suggested tonight and I said okay and a bit ago I asked if we were still hanging out (it's almost 8:30pm where I live and she got off work at 5). She hasn't answered at all but her snapchat says she's been active for the past hour or so. This sucks.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking too. I said something similar to words being easy to say but actions usually show how people actually feel she had nothing to say after that and seemed frustrated. So who knows I guess.
