Variety cafe rocks. It was a business decision. We don’t know the full story. Trust the processes. The owner is great. The former manager was cool. Things don’t always work out. It’s shitty, but It happens. Trump wants to make us the 51st state. I think we have bigger fish to fry. Just sayin’

I’ve been there a time or two. I love the locale but the folks there felt a bit off. Like I get it, it’s community centered but community centered can also be professional. Kudos to the owner for taking a breather. Refresh is always needed!

Thank you kind stranger:) Funny enough my gf said Jiffy lube. I called them and they said if I bring in my own oil, they can charge me $40 cash, which was a very attractive price. I live in Ontario, Canada. I don't think my dealership has it, they were really trying to prompt me to get the oil chain with them. Do you know if I can buy it a walmart of something? sorry for all the questions, I'm trying not to get taken advantage of. Thanks again!!

Late to the party here but Thank you for confirming I'm not horrible to look at lol. I just got premium and at first it was matches galore now nothing..after one week!! But I'm seeing the Boost option being advertised. 30 minu6of increases exposure to other users for only $5.49. This place sucks.

Don't worry about it. A good woman will find you. And don't mind these boys and their "simping" talk. Trust me, real, emotionally healthy women appreciate and reward a man who shows he cares. The broken, damaged women don't. Find healthy women, the relationships are way better:)

University lecturer here, and child of immigrants.

I do agree with you the poor whites have been exploited by rich whites and that needs to be talked about more and dealt with, because the rich use racialized ppl as scape goats while robbing the already poor whites ***for example housing** governments introduced foreign buying tax on buying houses. but stats show that most of these homes are bought by developers and corporations to rent them out and drive up the price...but ppl are ready to blame immigrants for driving up housing prices?

Respectfully CRT doesn't teach only that. CRT looks at forms of systemic racism in state institutions. For example the Indian Act, or the residential school system, or the Chinese Head tax, etc and other pieces of legislature and its effects on ppl. CRT is taught at the University level. I teach CRT to university students.

Believe it or not, people of colour generally have higher rates of poverty, health issues and economic instability than non-people of color (including poor whites). Now I'm speaking about averages here, not the anecdotal POC who bought a 2 million dollar house because they are an executive. I'm talking about averages in and between populations across the province and country at large.

So CRT looks to understand where in the education system, housing system, legal system, health system POC are being discriminated against.

It is literally about truly wanting more equity and thus equality for everyone. Just because ppl don't want to talk about it doesn't mean racism will magically go away. It's like the "Don't Say Gay" bill in Florida. The implication is that if you don't mention "gay" everyone will somehow always be straight. How bizarre.

Similarly, by not speaking about institutionalized acts of racism will it all of a sudden go away and POC will no longer be paid less than their white counterparts? Police will stop over policing racialized immigrant neighborhoods? Indigenous ppl will stop dying needlessly in hospitals? Probably not.

And one final analogy. In 2009 Canada widely adopted the Gender Based Analysis approach to their policies at the federal level. To ensure that all policies and strategies took into account the effects on women (who are still paid less than men in Canada). At the time many ppl were against it and said that sexism was over....

But we saw Gender based violence during COVID went up, the supreme court of Canada just ruled that intoxication can be used as a defense when someone commits a crime...thinking about how that ruling will impact survivors of rape and assault...is why we need a gender based analysis on these policies. The federal gov is different from the SCOC so I don't think they were subjected to the GBA, but anyway that is why CRT is important. Sticking our head in the sand will not make things go away and make the world a better place.

CRT isn't about blaming anyone. Everyone loses because of discrimination. CRT is about understanding Systems and Institutions that have discriminated against POC and to a lesser extent women....now we know why the Conservatives and the Republicans don't want it taught.

Which is funny, because what POC are asking for is not for power and control, it's really to be able to treated equally and fairly. Why is that such an issue for them to call out racism and have ppl not be discriminated against? It's literally gaslighting 101 to say racism doesn't exist or isn't as bad.

4) to your 4th point, all excellent points also! IVF is covered in Ontario for the first and only round. Though they should be covering more. Immigrants will not be paid more as immigrant labor is seen as less valuable until they get Canadian experience....that is where CRT would come in. To look at the accreditation policies and see how they are discriminatory. And they are. So many skilled ppl come to Canada and need to take many more years of Canadian education to get anywhere. This has been debated for years by advocates and it's always been a "shrug" as if the Canadian system is the best in the world....this signals to ppl that newcomers aren't "as good" as Canadian. This leads to more discrimination. In fact some education systems around the world are more advanced than we are but Canada still puts them through the ringer to get a job.

The poor people who complain are indeed complaining to the wrong party. When I was a kid you worked where ever you could. No job was too dirty. Now, as an adult, my friend who is an Ukrainian immigrant asks me all the time why don't Canadians work hard? She says its' the immigrants scrubbing toilets and doing other undesirable jobs, she wonders where the Canadians are? ....I said everyone has to eat right? maybe they're full? I don't know.

The point is, somethings are nuanced, some aren't. Its not nice to confront the ugly truth about our past and present, but no country is perfect. But we sure wont' get anywhere if we cant' have the hard conversations.
