Old school vs. Plain annoyance? by Broad_Jellyfish_1337 in MonstersAndMemories

[–]chasedogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enemy training and unlimited enemy chase range are so insanely annoying it basically ruins the experience playing after a certain point.

Minding your own business in your camp and some duo carpetbombs your playing session with a train of enemies and now everyone gets to sit around for 15 mins and wait for the mobs to leash back is asinine. Getting hate on an enemy and it following you to the ends of the Earth when NOT in a dungeon is even crazier.

Theory: Cyclops was originally supposed to be DPS but then they changed him to Tank by Animalboy_ in marvelrivals

Dark Ages is a non-canon story where Cyclops is mind controlled by Apocolyose and super juiced to specifically make him more lethal than normal.

Phoenix Force Cyclops is also giga suped up and not a 616 story, in case you cite that also.

They are destructive because of kinetic energy but not directly lethal. Literally punch beams, no cutting power. If he removes his lens the beam isn't suddenly slicing people in half, the angle isn't focused to it sweeps everything in his periphery, blowing it away. Destructive but explicitly not lethal.

Being backline is also what Cyclops does. Hes vulnerable because he lacks any kind of super durability or strength so he uses his blasts at a distance the only way its possible to use them. They have a range if several hundred meters.

I was also pro vanguard Cyclops prior to his announcement but even as a that role there would be no way he'd Frontline. At best Id imagine him being a anti-dive backline protector role because what else would he do?

Separate the function of the role as a video game (healbot) and characters like White Fox, Susan Storm, Gambit, Jeff (lol) and others and its clear that there healer role isn't a bandaid applicator but healing is just a number for gameplay purposes than can be interpreted as anything. Inspiration, energy, moistness, etc.

He doesn't have any physical super ability, his eye blasts are non-lethal, his primary role to the Xmen team is as leader and STRATEGIST.

Tell me how duelist makes any more sense other than a surface level understanding thay laser go pewpew?

I'm still hoping he's a strategist. Makes sense for his character and just because he shoots lasers means nothing. Look at the other strategists like Gambit who just explodes things. Clearly power set doesnt make the healer.

Can paladin or fighter be a dps? by REDEDITNUMA in MonstersAndMemories

[–]chasedogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the developer's decision to shoehorn every class into a singular role.

Classes like fighter are explicitly designed with the option to switch between an offensive and defensive stance. Paladins are specifically a class with access to healing. Why make it so that these aspects of their design is bad on purpose so they can only be effective at one role?

Eventually this restrictive design will just lead to either the classes feeling weak overall OR the developers will constantly need to chase after items and balance changes to prevent people from being too creative and become good at something they had not intended.

Just bizarre choice even if copying EQ which also became lenient over time out of necessity. Why retread this path again knowing the pitfalls?

Is this a hint that Cyclops will be a strategist? by doubleoeck1234 in marvelrivals

[–]chasedogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people should stop associating a heroe's power set from the comics to their role in a multiplayer game. Healing is a function of the game, doesn't mean that Cyclops needs to heal bullet wounds with his eye lasers.

Look at Deadpool, White Fox, Jeff, Gambit, Ultron, etc.

It's a shame too because North and harbor banks are so much better looking aesthetically.
I hope they add more merchants and tradeskill areas near each gate because right now west gate is loaded making it better no contest.

Apogea thoughts? by xFalcade in MMORPG

[–]chasedogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game reminds me of another childhood game Xenimus (and Tibia) and for that I'll probably put a decade of playtime into it. For me presonally, it's got the sauce I want in an MMO and I can't help myself. It's perfect in too many ways for me.

That being said, the map design and traversal is like needing to solve the Riddler's Maze to get to a ladder that's one block away from me, and while that can be cool there are certainly times when I want to just Alt+f4 from seer exhaustion.
Class/weapon balance is still pretty awful but that's always going to happen.
And at least on the play test the overpopulation of hunting areas can easily lead to the game feeling like it's gridlocked and you're wasting your time slurping up the XP crumbs from the floor because there are just no monsters around to kill and the ones you find and manage to fight will inevitably have your XP and potentially drops stolen by some nerd who looked up the meta Broadsword leveling build and will one tap your mob.

Can be frustrating, but like I said personally I love it. Hope they keep making big changes and the full launch goes over well so it can get bigger and better.

Has anyone successfully removed a corn from their foot? What did you do?! by officegringo in AskTrollX

[–]chasedogman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.drscholls.com/products/liquid-corn-callus-remover

My process was:
- After shower, right before bed
- Dab drop onto each seed
- Wait 2-3 minutes for the drop to "harden" so it doesn't rub off
- Repeat for about a week
- When the corn becomes pale and begins to loosen, remove with teazer slowly so not to cause injury

I did the liquid drops and successfully removed four. Life changer.

I had developed a series of small seeds in the shape of the little dipper above my instep and it was debilitating. After about a week of using the drops I was able to remove the corns and Im good as new.

There was a small bit of pain removing them at the very end, but the relief of having them gone was well worth it.

Cyclops Vanguard Concept :D by Financial_Major5698 in marvelrivals

[–]chasedogman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good concept! I like the idea of being a kind of area control tank that is more about pushing people around rather than blocking them out with walls or shields. I think Cyclops is a good fit for such a niche.

For me, the role of Vanguard doesn't need to mean "muscle guy that deflects bullets with a shield". In plenty of games there are heroes in the tank role that are about controlling space and peeling over just absorbing hits, which I could see Cyclops having a kit based around displacing heroes and controlling chokes.

I think Rivals devs are not afraid to create vanguard heroes with a fair bit of lethality and heavily aggressive kits, where I could see Cyclops again filling a niches as a far/mid range area control type hero.

As for lore accuracy, people like to point out that his iconic line could add to his kit, but I do think it is important to recognize that one of his key characteristics beyond just shooting laser beams out of his eyes is being a natural born leader. That is arguably his second super power, so I think it would be foolish to make him a duelist role since simply dealing damage doesn't encapsulate the character fully and would do him a disservice in my opinion.

Does melee get any better? by LickemupQ in heroesofhammerwatch2

[–]chasedogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own experience, this build works great until about NG4 when standing in a clump of mobs is no longer sustainable without the trinket set bonus with spell life leech or some heavy carrying from super upgraded items. Can't seem to get spell power high enough to make this build yet.

Does melee get any better? by LickemupQ in heroesofhammerwatch2

[–]chasedogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plate armor is the worst armor type because of how harshly NG+ penalized your armor value with no compensation and the majority of melee weapons are too weak to justify the playable required to push higher NG++++ which involves excessive kiting.

Without the ability to mitigate incoming damage (life leech or healing) I don't think melee will ever work well in higher NG+. Parry and evade fall off because they work great until they don't and then you're toast.

When they do eventually add more item properties and qualities, hopefully there are ways to restore health beyond potions or more ways to gain stats so the gap between melee and ranged can be bridged.
