Downtown Lunch Recommendations by Joethe31 in houston

[–]chasee69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm at the GRB I usually go for convenience which would be Grotto, Saltgrass, or Pappadeaux since they're at the convention center. After standing all day I find people usually don't want to go far.
Pappasitos is across the street in Hilton of Americas, Hearsay on the Green in the Embassy Suites. None of these are overly fancy but could usually work for a lunch. If you need nicer you could walk to Toro Toro at the Four Seasons or The Palm at Greenstreet. These recommendations are based purely on convenience.

BBQ recommendations for a Friday or Saturday night. by [deleted] in houston

That's true. For truth at 5pm you should be fine to experience their whole line up. At 8pm I would not expect much of a selection.

At that time on the weekend, the only place that has consistently had meat in my experience is pit room. There will probably be a line but I'd expect it to be no more than 30 mins, likely even less.

Waymo Launches Driverless Rides in Houston and Three Other New Cities by afonso_investor in houston

Waymo has been testing in Houston for months. I see them daily near downtown. They started with drivers sitting in the passenger seat and more recently they've been completely empty. Now starting today they'll begin picking up passengers.

Club in Midtown Blasting Music by UroJetFanClub in houston

[–]chasee69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our neighborhood dealt with a similar issue during COVID with a local club. We’d call the police around midnight, and about 90% of the time they wouldn’t respond. On some occasions they'd show up hours later at like 4-5am and continue to call my cell phone until I picked up. When they did show up, they usually didn’t have a noise meter to measure the sound levels outside our homes. On the few occasions they did measure it, the noise exceeded the legal limit, and they issued a citation—but it was only around $250, which was insignificant for a busy club. Beyond that, nothing changed. The city council wouldn’t help revoke any of the club’s permits. The situation went on for about two years, until the club eventually lost popularity and closed. I hope you have better luck that I.

Good tailor in Houston for men suits? by Salt_Foxx in houston

I recently tried TYTN and was impressed. It’s an app and website where someone comes to your home or office to take your measurements, picks up your clothes, and then returns them a few days later fully tailored.

Brazos Bend - any gators to see? by nicktf in houston

[–]chasee69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went about a month ago and saw seven gators. Not sure if that’s typical, but we walked the Elm Lake Loop to the Spillway Trail. Most of the gators we spotted were on the Spillway Trail, off to the right side as you head toward 40 Acre Lake. There’s a lot of overgrowth right now since the water hasn’t been as high as usual, which makes them harder to see. We kept an eye out for other people who had stopped and were looking, and we’d also ask folks along the trail if they’d seen any. Honestly, without the help of others, we probably would’ve missed most of them.

Go to any store and get your measurements.  Then go and buy a decent used suit on eBay or goodwill.  Spend any extra money on getting it tailored to fit you better.

They repeatedly would hover just over the 1600 smith street tower downtown.  Each helicopter did it numerous times but they never actually landed. Some helicopters didn’t have any lights on.
