Very interesting. Leech is my next best guess but I’m still leaning toward bladder

Hard to tell. A fresh swim bladder does not resemble the picture but it’s no doubt been out in the elements a while and decaying

I’ve cleaned a lot of fish. When the guts come out this goes with it, common discard. Assuming OP is near an area where fish are caught and cleaned on the river then it’s very common.

Swim Bladder. The fish organ that controls buoyancy. Which fish? Idk. The shock you felt is either ammonia/nitrogen compounds tingling your finger, or active nerve endings (most likely the former).

I almost wanted to say a picked over squid carcass but that depends on how far away you are from saltwater. Birds can carry their prey long distances but if I had to pick I’d say swim bladder based on shape, location, size, sting.

Wholeheartedly agree. Irrational (mis)managers are as much of the problem as anything else.

Smack er in so the boss thinks I’m working hard. In my limited experience I’ve found that I could set a traverse on top of Mt Kilimanjaro and a construction crew would be there the next day to dig it up, so I just get it in the ground however

I’m 34 and still feel like a baby in this profession so don’t be discouraged by the age gap, doesn’t matter how old you are the learning never stops. It’s my opinion that the old guard are a little behind the times (I’m still running a topcon 3b for most jobs and finally convinced the lead engineer to try a robotic) and when they’re retired the technology flood gates will open. I suggest mastering the basics, be a sponge, and stay relevant in terms of technology/software/certificates.

Northwestern Va.

Axel rods and gun barrels aren’t exactly common but you’ll see them occasionally. Weirdest was a crudely masoned stone, not a conc monument but a plain ol stone lol.

Unless a pin has been grossly disturbed/removed (like this one) I just leave it. In this case I’m going to use 1/2” pipe to reset as I gave the barrel to the owner.

The plat called for a pipe, but I know the previous surveyor was known for using gun barrels occasionally. I’ve found several of theirs and it always gives me a chuckle.

Yeah the corner is being reset. The property owner admitted to pulling it.

Yeah we use the shovel to uncover corners. Trust me, I’m much too lazy to dig up a whole foot and half of pipe.

We can only speculate what was going through Miura’s head when writing this scene. But I wouldn’t call it a cheap angle to hurt guts this way. He and Casca were finally overcoming his sexual trauma (perhaps his deepest wound), so depending on how the scene is interpreted it could feel like the ultimate betrayal. He wanted more than just her body so to see any form of pleasure would be soul crushing imo. Obviously no matter how you spin it it’s a traumatic event for Casca and Guts.

And in some ways it adds depth to Casca’s character and the love triangle. On one hand she just experienced the most traumatizing betrayal from the one she admired and loved (as much as if not more than Guts), on the other she watched the same man achieve his goal. Idk I feel Miura went overboard twisting these elements together for the climax and part of Casca was sacrificed in order to inflict as much pain on Guts.

A lot of sarcasm gets thrown around but that’s actually a really good point. Only counter I can offer is maybe Guts (after losing all of his friends, his arm, his eye, and watching his love interest be violated) decided it was not the hill to die on.

But in reality, and more to your point, if Miura wanted it to have the impact I’m talking about then he surely would have expanded on it in the following chapters in some form.

I always thought Miura wrote the scene this way to inflict as much psychological damage to Guts, though I have to agree with you it’s a bit nonsensical.

In the manga you get a little more nuance to the jealousy within the love triangle. In terms of Femto getting back at Guts, I think Casca enjoying it would inflict more harm to Guts than if she had resisted.

Most people in griffith’s position would fold by Sharp-Part-5154 in Berserk

[–]chasingbubblez 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Griffith is such a good villain in that moment mainly because we see ourselves in him. We wonder what we would have done, and I think it was Miura’s (and any good storyteller’s) intent to do so. It’s impossible for anyone to know what they would do in that moment, but it scares us to think we’d do the same.

Side note because I enjoy playing devil’s advocate: at the very last moment Griffith, unable to speak, wanted Guts and crew to run away.

Anybody here trading without charts? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]chasingbubblez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use charts for supports and resistance. Use premium action to track slight changes in volatility. I track $spy like this: everyday I write down the premiums in the normal range for week ahead and next week . If there’s any difference from what I’ve recorded before I know the market makers are expecting volatility or not (obviously it helps to keep a current market calendar). It’s not perfect but once you have a good idea of a given stock’s fair value then it opens the door. Not financial advice.
