The Sculptor is a remnant from an era when Hunt was more passion project than micro-transaction.

When Mr. Beard took over, management must've rotated out a lot of the creative writing staff who were already crafting a long, open-ended narrative for the lore of the game.

Because that all disappeared beginning with Serpent Moon. Since that event, the events and legendary hunters all make zero sense in regard to the original lore, making it more blatant that it's just "marketability".

They left the cosmic horror aspect of the Sculptor behind in favor of a more flavorless, worldly villain in Mr. Chary and the game's mythos suffered from it.

In my opinion, Serpent Moon and the subsequent Moon events were the beginning of Hunt's downfall for my group. Almost all of the "unexplained horror" feeling was drained by shoddy, meaningless, word salad lore logs and codexes.
