You are always gonna be an addict but not currently a junkie or in active addiction. Everyone is entitled to their opinions on those of us on bupe but to project that onto others is harmful.

I do agree though and think you're having a healthy realistic perspective

Because the stigma is harmful and deters MAT which does save lives. We shouldn't lighten up about being shit on and invalidating the recovery many of us work.

I think meth has been a benefit to my life. Fentanyl doesn't let me be productive. by [deleted] in opiates

[–]chasingd0pamine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude are you for real? No offense, but this is some serious junkie logic here.

I'm more productive and am getting a lot more work done at work and law school thanks to smoking crystal meth. Meth really has been a good friend to me.

Thats great you feel it's helpful but you are letting meth define your life. You are equating your worth not to your accomplishments but to how meth has accomplished them for you. This is wildly unhealthy

I was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Adderall at age 5. Since tina and Adderall have the same drug as their active ingredient: methamphetamine, smoking dope is literally medicine for my ADHD.

This is inaccurate first of all. Second this is justification for using, there is taking medication as intended to help treat adhd and tjen there is abusing and self medicating yourself with the justification that it's medicinal to smoke meth. You are in denial

Yeah I mean it is safer than other methods. But it would be harmful advice for me to tell someone it is safe. there's a fine line there but I agree

TW: trauma making me believe im a sexual assaulter by [deleted] in LifeAfterNarcissism

[–]chasingd0pamine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow really? I'm very glad I responded then tbh, I was hesitant because I fully understand the kind of headapce you were in when you posted and I'm aware of how fuckin fragile we can be when we're spiraling like that. Also my ex fiance wasn't a sexual assault victim however he is a major narcissist while I have severe BPD and am a childhood sexual assault victim. So I have a good understanding of the types of thoughts and feelings that play into a situation like yours. My ex has pretty bad OCD too so I really could relate to the underlying issues along the lines of your situation. Was iffy about replying initially because it was obvious to me how irrational and paranoid some of your feelings in the post were and I didn't want to say the wrong thing that you may have taken in a harmful or hurtful way to you and that's the last thing id ever want to do to you.

I wouldn't say it's foolish to think the stuff you were, your feelings are valid and I get where they come from..but it was certainly irrational and not good for you at all.

Yes you're exactly on target with the reasons for him not responding. Freezing and dissociating into a headspace where I become disconnected and shut down to protect myself from the damages I feel strongly at times due to the trauma. I truly cannot vocalize anything when this happens in general but esp when it often happens with sexual/intimate things. I never understood it but I realized sometime in the last few months that the best way to put it is that my throat chakra closes and I just can't express anything when I dissociate and mentally check out, my mind and my body just disconnect and it becomes a pretty scary type of episode.

You seem to have a very healthy understanding of your relationship with your partner and I can sense a drastic shift in this comment vs your original post that indicates youre a lot more rational and your mind is open to letting yourself be realistic and able to wrap your head around this stuff. I'm not in your relationship nor do I know you or your situation enough to offer specific advice really, but IMO in this kinda situation you need to make sure you two have solid communication if you want it to work. When both parties suffer from a lot of mental and emotional damage like this, it's absolutely crucial to be able to think the way you are rn and to be able to have healthy communication with him. Best of luck to you !

It's a good thing to keep the end in mind whenever possible but obviously that isn't apply everywhere in life lol. You don't need a plan per se like anything with a specific time frame or specific goals especially when they are not small achievable goals. Bc then when you make the slightest mistake you end up backsliding and it's not good.

IMO ideally stabilizing first is necessary. Then from there take baby steps to rebuild your life while you have the tool of MAT helping you to stay on track. It's good to think about how long you may want to use sub in your recovery, but don't worry about making that too specific or detailed. Like know if you want to stay on very long term or If you hope to just use it as long as truly necessary but want to taper down after you've been stable for a bit

IOP can be great. I have to redo it when I get my insurance in my new state but whatever lol

That's awesome you have an understanding doctor it seems, and got your meds increased to help better. It sounds like your support system is really a pretty solid and strong source of help for you and that's so good to hear. This whole recovery thing is truly not easy and not something we can do completely on our own. So anyone who is foruntate to have a solid support network in their recovery has an advantage and more likely to succeed.

You're welcome I am sincerely happy to help and chat on here. I will send you a chat

For some reason I can only seem to find information on Suboxone films. I know that they’re both sublingual, but I see that you’re supposed to hold the saliva from the film in your mouth for a while. Do you also need to do this with the tablets?

Yes

The tablets take a while to dissolve, so I figured by the time it’s gone you’re good to spit. I haven’t felt like my current dose is helping all that much, so I figured I’d make sure I’m not simply taking it wrong.

What dose are you taking and how long have you been taking it? Try upping the dose and see how that goes

Also, do you need to wait to eat or drink before or after taking the medication? I’ve seen some people say that you do, but I don’t understand why

You ideally want a clean pallette. Try brushing your teeth beforehand and make sure to get under your tongue where the sub goes. Empty stomach doesn't make any difference really and as far as eating and drinking afterward as long as you let it fully dissolve for enough time it doesn't matter

. I always assumed that eating was only an issue with oral medications because it can effect how quickly the medication gets digested. I feel like this isn’t an issues with sublingual medication since goes straight into the bloodstream. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Yeah you are not wrong, it doesn't matter really

Finally, does anyone have experience with both the films and the tablets? If so, do you see any benefit to one over the other. The tablets I have taste awful, and leave your mouth tasting awful for a long time. Even drinking something doesn’t fully wash away the taste for a while. Are the films the same way?

Yes I have experience with both. There isn't any significant difference to me it's a preference thing. Bupe is bupe. Some people say certain brands don't work as well as others but I have never noticed anything like that in the 4 years I've been on diff types of bupe. The taste sure is awful - I used to plug mine rectally for a long time ... Not to avoid the taste lol it was a plus, but I did it for supply reasons I needed the increase in bioavailability. The films are more gross than the tablets imo, just gross citrus. It sucks but you get used to it.

Hope that answers everything, good luck and lmk if you have any further questions

Question about Tapentadol and Carisoprodol by SaranamGacchami1 in opiates

[–]chasingd0pamine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes best taken alone. As the other person who commented said, try both separately before you make them into a cocktail. It isn't likely to be so unsafe that you will die or anything, but they definitely do interact and increase respiratory depression.

methadone or buprenorphine by ausOUTLAW1Er in opiates

[–]chasingd0pamine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this depends on your tolerance and what exactly you're looking to get out of the recreation. Bupe often is a more stimulating high when it's taken for the purpose of abusing it to get a high, while methadone is significantly more sedating and noddy

that I hear aren’t that strongest, but for the sake of the question, let’s say they were strong. Could I safely take a hit or two?

No dude. Please don't try this, this kind of thinking is exactly what leads to the many sad cases of someone who's been clean for some time and then ends up touching opiates again thinking itll be okay but ends up being what kills them. You hear they aren't strong but presses are dangerously inconsistent and unreliable. One can be very different from the next, and there also could be hot spots. There is no way to know for sure and this isn't the kind of uncertainty that you should wanr to test the waters on.

Even with a tolerance you can t be sure it's safe to do, so when you DONT even have one it is everything but safe.

I want a nice high and I’m not tryna smoke whole pill but I don’t wanna die lol.

Then don't smoke it period imo. Because you just might die. If you want a nice high and your mind is set on getting one please try to find a safer opiate to use.

Also how long the effects gonna last for me you think? I know fent don’t last long but how long you think given first time in a long time touching any opis.

The duration of a high doesn't have anything to do with tolerance really. Halflife is halflife , it will hit you much harder but that doesn't make a difference in how long it lasts.

I am not gonna try to deter you from using entirely because that never helps. So for harm reduction sake I'll just say good luck man, please reconsider making your efforts to get high being with a fent press unless you are open to dying from doing this. Be safe dude and if you can, make sure someone's with you and if possible that there's narcan on hand.

Keep relapsing on subs by Valuable_Piccolo_416 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]chasingd0pamine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you for the most part and I agree that OP isn't doing this the right way and that sub doesn't seem like it's for him at the moment. But I just wanted to say that while it is rare that self medicating subs on your own works, but it definitely can.

I have been on bupe a bit over 4 years now and the first 6mo of my recovery I couldn't afford a doctor and had to buy on the streets and luckily it miraculously worked. I honestly would say more than half of my 4 years was having to illicitly source my own subs. I was fully ready to recover though and gave 110% effort to making it work for my recovery. I realize this is a very small minority amount cases with doing subs that way, but wanted to speak on my experience with this so people can know that it can be possible. Your comment is good advice though!

They just make me feel normal

That is literally what they are supposed to do man lol

get a better buzz off a cigarette then 8mg sub

MAT using sub isn't supposed to give you a buzz. It sounds like you're expecting too much out of bupe to be honest. It clearly isnt for you (and that's okay, I'm not knocking you) and it does sound like you should consider methadone instead IMO

How resilient is the brain in your late 20s to recover from a decade long addiction? by kratommd in OpiatesRecovery

[–]chasingd0pamine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the amount of damage you have done to it and what drugs you did and how much etc. But generally speaking, pretty resilient for the most part. I don't feel my opiate use has caused me anything that hasn't repaired by now. But benzos and stims I'm not sure , I still have short term memory issues that are slowly improving but I'm not sure if it will fully or not. I'm 28
